Message from the Head

Dear Parents,

It’s already the end of the second week of term and children and staff alike are settling back into school life. Please could I gently remind you to label your child’s uniform this weekend – this would really help us to return misplaced items!

Tuesday’s assembly focussed on understanding what a Growth Mindset is and how to recognise when we are showing a fixed vs growth mindset approach. This linked nicely into the Votes for Schools topic for the week: Are you Resilient when things don’t go to plan?

School Photographers are coming in on Tuesday 19th Sept for Singles and Sibling photos. All pupils must wear full school uniform (either Summer or Winter uniform is fine). If your child normally wears their PE kit that day, please pack it into a bag.

Wednesday 20th is Jeans for Genes day. We ask for a minimum donation of £1/ child. Jeans should be worn along with the normal school shirt and blazer if you would like your child to take part.

Wishing you a lovely weekend, Mrs Brown and the HHS Team

Tooled Up Education

A message from Dr Kathy Weston and her team

 Introducing Our Brand New Platform

First things first, we are thrilled to unveil our shiny, new online platform designed exclusively for our members. Head on over to the website and explore what has changed. We're still settling in, so please bear with us if anything looks awry.

 Back to School Checklist

With the holidays fading into the background, many of us are transitioning back into work mode, including our children. If they need a gentle push to get back into the academic groove, look no further than our ‘Back to School Checklist’. It's the perfect tool to encourage their independence and start the year off right.

 Tools for Teens and New Secondary School Students

For your teens, we've introduced the weekly ‘Mindset Planner’ to help them stay organised and motivated. If you have young ones embarking on their journey to a new senior or secondary school, our ’Settling In’ journal is here to guide them through their first few weeks with ease.

Votes for Schools: Keep the discussion going at home

Remember, there's no "right" or "wrong" - We are learning to argue for/against a position. This includes how to respectfully disagree with someone and calmly defend our point of view.

Parent Expertise

Calling all parents!

Do you have an exciting job that might pique the interest of the pupils? We’d love to hear from you and arrange an assembly or workshops!

We’d be particularly excited to hear from parents who work with the brain, or in the STEM field in general.

Please reach out to us with your ideas!

Gentle Reminders

Cakes and treats for Birthday Celebrations

 All cakes and goodies intended for Birthday Celebrations must come to us in their original packaging so we can be certain about allergens. We reserve the right to not distribute treats if we are unsure about the ingredients.

 Please do NOT send whole cakes

 We have a very strict NO NUT policy.

 If providing Krispy Kreme doughnuts, please send sugar glaze ONLY

Parking in and around Broadhurst Avenue

 You must not under any circumstances block driveways. This is a source of considerable antagonism for our neighbours with whom we are trying hard to cultivate a more respectful relationship.

 Please park further from the school if necessary and walk up to the gates.

Water bottles

 All water bottles must be fully transparent and must NOT be made from glass.

 They should have a secure lid that minimise the risk of leaking or spilling when knocked over

 Water is the only drink permitted.

 Any bottle found that doesn’t meet the requirements will be removed by staff and given to parents at the end of the day to replace

Blazers

 As per previous communications, all pupils are expected to be wearing the new school blazer from September 2023.

Late arrival/collection

 Please remember to come into the school building and register/sign out your child if you are running late.
