Dear Parents,
We’ve had a cracking first week at HHS! (Rest assured that this has nothing to do with RAAC- we don’t have any on-site!)
It’s been a pleasure to welcome our new pupils across the school and the little ones in Reception are settling in nicely despite some tears at drop-off! We know that as the days go by they will soon settle into their new routines.
Seeing so many parents in school and online for our Meet the Teacher event was lovely; we hope you found the session helpful.
Acting on parent feedback, we are also excited to launch My Happy Mind this year. This is a whole school initiative, grounded in science and backed by the NHS. Dedicated to building positive mental well-being, it teaches us how our brains work and creates a culture that helps build resilience, confidence and self-esteem. There’s even an App for staff use and one for parents too! Let’s all go on the journey together!

Please keep the discussion going at home. Remember, there's no "right" or "wrong" - We are learning to argue for/against a position. This includes how to respectfully disagree with someone and calmly defend our point of view
Having meaningful discussions with your children is very important. Votes for Schools helps your child improve their persuasive arguing skills whilst building their understanding of the complexities of the world around them.
Getting to grips with the various issues communities and countries face can help children develop a sense of civic, social and moral responsibility. We hope to help our HHS pupils become the problem solvers and solution finders of the future!
Please read the Votes For Schools Home Bulletin (new for this academic year!) each week with your child and discuss the content with them.

Suitable pre-loved books in good condition, for our library
If you would like to make a larger donation, eg for playground equipment/ musical instruments for the school, please get in touch with Mrs Brown!
Pre-loved Uniform
Sally has lots of good quality, pre-loved school uniform, including tap-shoes! Items are incredibly well-priced, often no more than £1 and all proceeds go to charity. Feel free to give her a ring and ask her what you need!
Please consider buying second-hand and donating good quality items back to the school – no uniform with the old logo please.
Gentle Reminders
Water bottles
All water bottles must be fully transparent and must NOT be made from glass. They should have a secure lid that minimise the risk of leaking or spilling when knocked over
Water is the only drink permitted. Any bottle found that doesn’t meet the requirements will be removed by staff and given to parents at the end of the day to replace
Blazers
As per previous communications, all pupils are expected to be wearing the new school blazer in September 2023.
