SPRING Student Counseling 2015 Services Groups Life at Hofstra Discover new ways to adapt to life at Hofstra through this interactive workshop series. Students will have the opportunity to discuss concerns as they adjust to life in a university setting. Friday at 3:15 p.m. in the Mack Student Center, North Campus February 6: Adapting in the USA, homesickness and American culture February 20: Friendship, making friends, and dating in America March 6: Time management and organizational skills March 20: Stress management and mindfulness April 17: Topic TBD May 1: Topic TBD

CBT Anxiety Reduction Group This is an eight- to ten-session group for students who are looking to reduce their anxiety in specific situations. Students will have the opportunity to learn and experience different coping skills while connecting to others who may be facing similar concerns. Start date: Tuesday, February 17, at 8 p.m. *This group is expected to close to new participants after initial meetings; please contact SCS for additional information.

Recovery Group Learn techniques to build and maintain motivation; cope with urges; manage thoughts, feelings and behaviors; and live a balanced life through recovery from substance use. This group provides support to individuals in recovery from addictions. Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Mindfulness Meditation This group focuses on building the connectivity of mind, body and emotion through meditation. Learn ways to relax and manage stress, anxiety and other emotions by staying in the present moment. Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Emotion Regulation Group This supportive group is intended for students who would like to learn to identify and reduce the intensity of difficult emotions. Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Unless specified, all groups meet at Student Counseling Services, located in the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center on South Campus (across the street from the Netherlands Complex).
