CENTER FOR "RACE," CULTURE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE LEVERAGING LEADERSHIP RACIOETHNIC PERCEPTIONS 2022 Faculty Summer Research Grant Recipient Public Lecture With Associate Professor of IndustrialOrganizational Psychology Nicholas Salter, and Second Year Doctoral Student Mariana Garcia Dr. Salter and Ms. Garcia - both from Hofstra's IndustrialOrganizational Psychology Program - will discuss their study examining people's views of White male and female leaders and Latinx male and female leaders in the workplace. Their study found that White male leaders - who are often thought of as the “prototypical” leader - were viewed as less warm, agreeable, and competent than other leaders.White female leaders, Latinx male leaders, and Latinx female leaders were generally viewed similarly, though White females seemed to have an edge in ratings over the others. We will discuss these results and why it is challenging but important - to study diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Register in advance
