Hofstra Continuing Education announces a brand-new program: the Hofstra Precollegiate Career Discover Institute – Saturda Classes. Designed for teens and taught mainly by Hofstra professors and professionals in their fields these interactive hands-on classes and workshops help teens explore their passions and interests and discover new ones as they prepare for college and beyond.

~ ARTS ~ PHOTOSHOP BASICS

2 sess ons Saturday, March 10 and 17 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. • $250

This class teaches the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop with easy-to-follow practical examples. Topics covered include creating new documents organizing files creating and using layers using filters adding typography to a composition creating shapes and applying effects. Students will leave this class with a greater understanding of Photoshop and the inspiration to create.

This class teaches more of the fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop with easy-to-follow hands-on practical examples. We cover topics such as combining images filters layers layer masks typographic design customizing a brush and retouching photographs. Students build on their previous knowledge of the various techniques and tools they learned in Photoshop Basics. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Photoshop

GRAPHIC DESIGN

2 sess ons Saturday, Apr l 28 and May 5 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. • $250

This class draws from many aspects of art and design including advertising product design and visual marketing as well as other genres that a professional graphic designer might encounter. Students use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign to develop their personal style. We explore digital and nondigital formats and techniques and create computer-based solutions to graphic art problems.

COMPUTER ART

Instructor: Professor Evangel ne Chr stodoulou Grades 9-12 Students learn and use various digital methods and techniques to create their own art. We use computer programs to create digital art such as landscapes mandalas quilts Notan and self-portraits.
