HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY
MAJOR IN SPANISH
AN 8-SEMESTER STUDY GRID
This is simply an example of what 8 semesters might look like for incoming First-Year students who place in level 003 in the language placement test. If you place in level 001 or 002 of the language, or declare your major later, or are a Transfer Student, your grid will look considerably different. Your choices may vary. Some SPAN courses fulfill more than one requirement such as a Literature, Writing Intensive, Cross Cultural or Interdisciplinary Studies Core Distribution, opening up more space by double dipping. Up to 6 credits of Core Distribution credits may be taken during Study Abroad. Students are encouraged to study abroad. Spanish majors can take up to but no more than 12 s.h. of SPAN courses towards their major while studying abroad, and they can take up to but no more than 6 s.h. of SPAN courses towards their minor while studying abroad. Students are required to meet with a Spanish advisor at least once every semester.
