This is simply an example of what 8 semesters might look like for incoming First-Year students. If you declare your major later, or are a Transfer Student, your grid will look considerably different.

Your choices may vary. There are several course options for most required categories.

Up to 6 credits of Core Distribution credits may be taken during Study Abroad.

Before you can declare this Major, you must complete a minimum of 16 credits in pre-medical sciences required by the program while enrolled at Hofstra. Students must maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA overall and in the required sciences to enter and remain in this program.

Students should meet with their Psychology Department advisor at least once every semester.

Some Psychology courses (AP/IB/Transfer) taken prior to Hofstra can count toward the major.

Some Non-Psychology courses taken prior to your first year can count toward general education requirements or elective credits, whether taken at Hofstra or transferred in.

You can complete your degree of 124 credits by taking 4 or 5 courses each semester. The required courses for the Psychology B.S. Major consist of a mixture of 3 and 4 credit courses. **In addition to going on study abroad for either semester in their third year, students can go for a semester in their second or fourth years, or for a short-term program in the summer or during the January break.
