For the general population, close prolonged contact is defined as a) being within approximately 6 feet (2 meters) of a person with COVID-19 for more than 15 minutes or b) having unprotected direct contact with infectious secretions or excretions of a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Scan this code to view a list of CDC-recognized COVID-19 symptoms.
You should not resume campus activities until you have your test results.
Testing visit
Diagnostic testing (also referred to as molecular or PCR testing) consists of a swab of the nasopharyngeal region (the upper part of the throat that lies behind the nose).
Students exhibiting CDC-recognized symptoms of COVID-19 should schedule testing immediately.
WHAT steps do I need to take if I have symptoms?
Receiving test results
To schedule testing, call Student Health Services at 516-463-6745 during our hours of operation to discuss your symptoms/any exposure and schedule an appointment. For clinical care contact your healthcare provider or Student Health Services. Take care of yourself, including following any instructions from Student Health Services or your healthcare provider. Any student who receives outside care with COVID-19 testing should report this to Student Health Services.
If positive, Student Health Services will call you with follow up instructions for self- isolation and care. Self-isolation is for a minimum of 10 days. If you receive care and COVID-19 testing off campus, results must be reported to Student Health Services If negative, you will be notified via a text or call.
After your test
If negative, and you had symptoms which have resolved, resume activities per Hofstra campus guidelines: with face covering, social distancing and frequent hand washing (for info, visit hofstra.edu/hygiene). If positive, Student Health Services will provide guidance on isolation and plan for care and monitoring.
