American Production and Inventory Control Society - President and Vice President speak 1.

Explain their org- about supply chain- it is a preprofessional club and supply chain is a growing major

Goal: have events with people in the field for networking events and resume boostersbecome a stronger chapter under the bigger area

Have been a club without recognition and proposed UPS event and other events want recognition now to get funding to increase recruiting

Club has growth potential- large amount new member interest

President of APICS answers every couple of weeks is official meeting and in between is events - overall 4-5 a month

All majors not just management - finance, marketing, etc. can be beneficial for them and incorporates a lot of different majors planning, budgeting, etc.

They're bringing in big name companies without funding so image how much more they could do with funding

People sign up and speak in management classes and sign up were at the club fair and word of mouth, also the professor and director are helping with reaching out to all management majors (once they get advising email list)

Idea of membership fee but want it to be educational experience and paying would deter interest especially in such a new field

Chairperson Tomasso asks how they promote events - how do they know who are interested i.

Over 50 people went to the event at the university club - APICS paid for the space and university gave a discount, also students paid for tickets

Senator Ismail asks about other ways of fundraising if don't get recognized i.

HCLAS has a new Dean - Dean Rifkin and he wants to connect - starting SAC (Student Advisory Council) for HCLAS - is looking for volunteers - meet 3 times a semester for about an hour to hear about experiences, classes, and professors 1.

Minutes of the 82nd Cabinet Hofstra University Student Government Association

September 20, 2017 SGA Conference Room Meeting Called to Order at 8:09 p.m.

I.

President Updates A.

University Senate i.

Student Affairs Committee (SAC) met this week 1. Proposed initiative: free New York Times to all University (grad as well) a. SGA already provides for said services and will reassess ideathis will free up SGA budget if USenate wants to work with the university and take that on i. Division of Student Affairs used to pay- logistics of student activities fee- SGA had the money for it when it started 2. Grad students in clubs/orgs a. Preliminary stages looking at how grad students can get involved with undergrad clubs or create their own; even potential increase in grad activities fee for grads to be involved and would also create need for grad reps in SGA

b. Also long term- merge SAC and SGA’s Student Services Committee (because they have similar initiatives) so they would have grad representation through that B.

Gala Legislation i.

Briona from BSU will draft rules to bring to Senate

ii.

Concerns about how student leaders don’t have representation at gala unless they have connection to admin 1. Want to request money from appropriations for gala tables 2. Want to create a resolution to DSA to create raffle for leftover tickets or ones paid for and then people drop out/cancel 3. Consideration: Student Leadership Awards nominees will automatically be entered into raffle 4. Students get a discount for a table already 200/student; 400/alumni

Vice President Updates a.

Sam Kloeckener from OSLE wants to have reps for NYC blood drive come to Senate to talk about increase in engagement with blood drive - is this worth it to have a focus group for them - become educated so that the i.

Want us to help them with PR and being educated about blood drive

ii.

Comptroller Kutsch inputs that it’s minimal effort for Chairperson Hinson to schedule a post 1.

Also suggested adding it to club leader trainings or club leader emails as a suggested volunteer event that orgs can get credit for

iii.

Chairperson Labrie and Chairperson Tomasso agree we should listen to them and get information and can help inform students 1.

Decided it is good practice to constantly be checking through SGA materials to ensure we are never distributing false information.

B. All committee members reviewed packets in their entirety and made edits.
