ADMISSION AND FINANCIAL AID

Candidates must submit an undergraduate application to Hofstra University prior to February 1. To facilitate the processing of your application: 4Schedule an appointment to meet with your high school guidance counselor for college preparation. 4 Complete an application via the Hofstra or Common Application, available at hofstra.edu/apply. • Be sure to indicate NOAH as your "Specific Interest." 4 Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. The FAFSA should be filed before February 1. 4Submit your application and supporting documentation, which includes: • Two letters of recommendation • Official copies of high school transcripts • Personal essay Materials can be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admission by email to NOAHAdmission@hofstra.edu or by mail to Hofstra University, Office of Undergraduate Admission, 100 Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY 11549-1000.

The NOAH Financial Statement Form is forwarded under separate cover, upon receipt of your application by the Office of Admission. Upon receipt of all completed application materials, the Office of Admission determines academic eligibility, and the Financial Aid Office determines eligibility for financial awards. Once eligibility is determined, invited candidates must attend an individual and/or group interview. When accepted students are identified as NOAH academic scholarship recipients, financial award letters are prepared, based upon the students’ financial needs, as determined by the FAFSA. Awards are made available through funding from Hofstra University, as well as from federal and state grants and loans. NOAH Scholars typically receive substantial financial aid packages, which may cover a significant portion of their education costs. Historically, NOAH Scholars have proven to be leaders – young adults of distinction who are committed to academic excellence. NOAH Scholars have made major contributions both to the Hofstra University community and to the surrounding communities through their participation in outreach programs. By promoting academic excellence and community service, the NOAH Scholars program instills social, political, and cultural awareness in our students, as it continues to mean a new day for our students and our community.

Hofstra University’s commitment to diversity is reflected in its more than 50-year commitment to the NOAH Scholars program, the original model for New York state’s Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program.

"If there is no struggle, there is no progress." The words of abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass capture the spirit and character of NOAH Scholars, who are among Hofstra’s most distinguished students, campus leaders, community advocates, and alumni.
