Contact the Office of Admission at transferadmission@hofstra.edu or 516-463-6700 to find out how easy it is to continue your pursuit of a college education at Hofstra University.

• Earned less than 24 college credits at the time of application? Include high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores (test scores are optional).

• You should receive an admission decision approximately three to four weeks after submitting a completed file.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR: A typical transfer student has a cumulative GPA of at least 2.30 and 24 earned college credits.

Undergraduate Program Options

Transfer Credits • A course with a grade of C- or better potentially earns credit if it is comparable

to a course offered at Hofstra University. • All admitted students receive a preliminary credit evaluation within a week after admission. •P reliminary and unofficial evaluations are available before application by scheduling a appointment with the Transfer Center. A rticulation agreements and plans of study are available online at • hofstra.edu/transfer. • A credit evaluation guide is available for students transferring from our top 20 feeder colleges. Visit hofstra.edu/creditevaluation for more information. • A course description and/or syllabus may be required from the student before proceeding with an official credit evaluation. • A minimum of 124 credits are required for a bachelor’s degree, with some exceptions. • A minimum of 30 credits in residence are required. Residency requirements may vary by major. • A maximum of 64 credits from a two year college may be transferred, with the following exceptions: • 6 5 credits for business majors • 6 9 credits for engineering majors •S tudents transferring from Nassau Community College may apply up to 67 credits if majoring in education • First-year seminars, nursing courses, internships/co-ops, independent studies, certificate programs, paralegal courses, remedial courses, and office technology courses (e.g., secretarial procedures) are not transferable to Hofstra.

HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY HONORS COLLEGE Entrance to Hofstra University Honors College is by invitation only and occurs after a student’s acceptance to the University. *A dual-degree program may allow the student to earn both an undergraduate and graduate degree in less time than if each degree is pursued separately. Hofstra University offers more than 100 dual-degree programs, many of them in the Zarb School of Business. These programs take more than four years to complete. Transfer Scholarships All admitted students are reviewed for merit-based scholarships at the time of acceptance, so no additional application is necessary. Scholarships are determined by the information supplied in your application and by the cumulative GPA earned at the time of admission. Priority is given to students who complete their application by March 1 for fall and November 15 for spring. Merit-based scholarships are subject to change, and exact amounts vary from semester to semester. All scholarships are awarded on a funds-available basis.

Scholarship Award Breakdown for Fall 2017 Full-Time Enrollment by GPA at the Time of Admission •S tudents with a GPA of 3.9 or above typically receive an award ranging from $18,000 to $19,000 per year. •S tudents with a GPA of 3.4-3.89 typically receive an award ranging from $16,000 to $18,000 per year. •S tudents with a GPA of 3.0-3.39 typically receive an award ranging from $13,000 to $16,000 per year. •S tudents with a GPA below a 3.0 will be reviewed and awarded scholarships on a case-by-case basis.

Part-time Studies at Hofstra Hofstra’s part-time students enjoy nearly the same range of academic options as full-time students. Plus, to accommodate the needs of those attending classes in the evening, the Center for University Advising, The Career Center, and other administrative offices offer extended hours – which enables you to make appointments in the evening or on the weekend. Also, nearly all of Hofstra’s facilities, from the Mack Student Center and Student Counseling Services to Student Computing Services, Axinn Library and the Mack Fitness Center, are open evenings and weekends. Your HofstraCard entitles you to access all that’s available on the Hofstra campus.

Hofstra’s Office of Residence Life offers a variety of comfortable living environments designed to meet the diverse needs of more than 3,600 resident students. Six of the 35 residence halls are high-rises, and four other halls contain suite-style arrangements. Each hall is staffed by resident directors and resident assistants.

PHI THETA KAPPA

Students can live at Hofstra year-round and will find that the campus is its own community, with 18 dining facilities, a hair and nail salon, post office and full-service bank branch.

The International Honor Society of Two-Year College Students Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship: $2,500 per year. •S pecial consideration is given to full-time students who hold membership in Phi Theta Kappa and meet the established requirements of a 3.5 GPA with 60 credit hours upon entry to Hofstra University. •A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s community college is required by May 1 in order to be considered for this award. •A limited number of these scholarships are awarded annually.
