SPRING Student Counseling 2016 Services Groups

Join students in this supportive group in order to learn new ways of developing and maintaining healthy relationships. The focus of the group includes learning the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships, assertive communication and conflict resolution skills, and how to set appropriate boundaries with others. Monday at 7 p.m.

Coping Essentials Group

Improve your ability to cope with life stressors and increase resilience through this supportive group. Students looking to learn practical and effective skills to manage thoughts, feelings and behaviors and enhance daily living are encouraged to attend. Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Social Anxiety Group

This supportive group focuses on helping students understand and reduce anxiety in social situations. Learn and develop skills and strategies for becoming more comfortable in social settings. Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Recovery Group

Learn techniques to build and maintain motivation; cope with urges; manage thoughts, feelings and behaviors; and live a balanced life through recovery from substance use. This group provides support to individuals in recovery from addictions. Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Mindfulness Meditation Group

This group focuses on building the connectivity of mind, body and emotion through meditation. Learn ways to relax and manage stress, anxiety and other emotions by staying in the present moment. Wednesday at 8 p.m.

International Students Group Learn about interacting and communicating in a new culture, share information and resources, and connect with others through this supportive group. Thursday at 7 p.m.

Emotion Management Group This supportive group is intended for students who would like to learn skills to manage intense feelings and cope more effectively with emotional distress. Friday at 3 p.m.

All groups meet at Student Counseling Services, located in the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center on South Campus (across the street from the Netherlands Complex).
