Best Practices in Community based Mental Health for Children and Adolescents: Enhancing the Researcher-Practitioner Partnership A Research Symposium and Breakfast in Celebration of the 60th Anniversary of North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center
Friday, November 8, 2013 9:30-11:30 a.m. Hofstra University Club David S. Mack Hall, North Campus This research symposium will illustrate the value of working partnerships between researchers and community based-agencies to address the mental health challenges of children, adolescents and their families. Piloting, testing and refining evidence-guided practices will be discussed in the context of implementing best practices. Panelists will discuss their research on developing organizational skills in school-age children, the accuracy of adolescents in reporting medication side effects, improving adherence to mental health therapy in depressed adolescents, applying Hope Theory interventions to promote achievement, and using Parent-Child Interaction Therapy to address anxiety and mood problems in young children.
