Hofstra American Marketing Association Wins Awards at the 34th Annual International Collegiate Conference The Hofstra American Marketing Association (HAMA) received several awards at the organization’s international collegiate conference in New Orleans this spring. These awards included: Outstanding Communication; Outstanding Chapter Planning; Outstanding Community Service; Honorable Mention for Marketing Week Activities; and Fourth Place: AMASavesLives Video-Most Views.

Congratulations to the E.M.B.A. Class of 2012!

2012 E.M.B.A. Class On April 14, 2012, the Zarb School of Business hosted a celebration for the E.M.B.A. Class of 2012. The graduating class included Eugene Beretsky, Andrew Cameron, Brian Kurtz, Nicholas LaLota, Kemi Obadina, Edward Palleschi, Nayan Parikh, Michael Pepper, Patricia Piedra, Frank Ramos, Dganit Raviv, Vincent Rizzo, Songul Sendur, Allison Spinelli and Prashanth Toom.

Zarb Student Accepted into the International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) Summer Fellowship Program Jade Keena, a member of the Hofstra Advertising Club, was accepted into the International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) Summer Fellowship Program – a highly competitive and selective program where only 18 students are chosen from across the country. This is the first time a Hofstra student was selected for this fellowship. As a summer fellow, Jade received a housing grant in New York City and participated in an eight-week paid internship with a major company in the advertising/communication field. Jade is pursuing a B.A. in public relations, with a minor in marketing.

Spring 2012 M.B.A/M.S. Scholarship Recipients

Zarb students participated in PricewaterhouseCooper’s xACT competition, which focuses on high-level issues designed to test and improve students’ decision-making skills. The Zarb School of Business sponsored seven teams, each mentored by a Hofstra faculty member. The winning team was mentored by Linda Schain and included the following students: Bennet Cinelli, Kristen Follo, Eric Merten, Heather Thomas and Alexandra Zimmerman.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is sponsored by CFA Institute and locally hosted by the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA). The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an educational initiative in which leading industry professionals teach business and finance students how to research and report on a publicly traded company. NYSSA started the competition 10 years ago (as the Investment Research Challenge) as a means to promote best practices in research among the next generation of analysts. Hofstra University was one of 23 participating universities, which included New York University, Cornell University, Baruch College, Boston University and University of Pennsylvania (Wharton West).
