MEET THE OFFICERS

CAPTAIN MALVIN BARDSNES MASTER

Capt. Mal was born in New Westminster, B.C. Canada. He started his career in the fishing industry, on the coast of British Columbia in 1977. He attended the Marine College PMTI in North Vancouver, completing his Master’s license in 1998. Capt. Mal started with Royal Caribbean in 1997 and has served on various ships in the fleet working his way up the ranks and is proud to serve as your Captain on the beautiful Liberty of the Seas.

GARY DAVIES HOTEL DIRECTOR

Gary was born in Liverpool, in the United Kingdom, where he originally studied to be a Chef. After working for three years at various establishments, Gary landed a position working at Cliveden, the United Kingdom’s only “Stately Home” hotel, once home to British Royalty and the Astor family. Gary then joined Royal Caribbean in 1991 as a Purser and worked his way through various positions in the Pursers Division to be promoted to Chief Purser, then in 2007 became Associate Hotel Director. Gary has since worked as Project Manager for the installation of Central Park on our Oasis class ships, been part of the opening team for 11 new ships and Gary is now proud to be your Hotel Director onboard the beautiful Liberty of the Seas.

MARIO ISLA CRUISE DIRECTOR

Mario joins us from one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City. He received his degree in International Business and has a Master’s in Economy from the University Complutense of Madrid, Spain. His love for seeing the world continued so Mario joined hotels and resorts all over the world as a Host and Youth Entertainer; then in 2005 Mario joined the ship industry and in 2008 he joined the Royal Caribbean Family onboard the Voyager of the Seas as a Youth Staff. Mario made his way up to Adventure Ocean Manager and was part of the Harmony, Symphony, Odyssey and Wonder start-ups. Mario is a proud Cruise Director to present you with an extraordinary talented and passionate Entertainment Team onboard Liberty of the Seas, on this incredible and fun cruise vacation.

MIROSLOW KAROL GORNY CHIEF ENGINEER

Chief Engineer Miroslaw was born in the small city of Zywiec, located south of Poland far away from a sea coast in 1971. He grew up in 70’s and 80’s during an interesting time for his country when a lot of things were changed due to political impact. In 1986 he went to secondary school with General Engineering profile and achieved his graduation in 1991. During that time he decided to change his career path and applied for Master degree and Engineering license in Merchant Marine Academy in Gdynia, Poland. After successful achievement of his Master degree in 1996 Miroslaw started his sea experience as Engine Cadet and become an Engineer on Polish Cargo Ships until 1999. He started his Cruise Ship career in 2000 and joined Royal Caribbean International in 2002 as 2nd. Engineer onboard Enchantment of the Seas. He served couple of vessels in the fleet as 1st Engineer, Staff Chief Engineer. In 2013 he was promoted to Chief Engineer on board Splendour of the Seas. Recently he served on board Radiance of the Seas. He now calls the Liberty of the Seas home and is happy to hold the position of Chief Engineer. He and his Engine team wishes every one for an energetic and
