WONDER
This was a Year 1 project for model making, where we were creating parasitic architecture and make a model with an inspiration of an animal.
This space is a leisure space that goes across two buildings. Having sharped edges, many eye-openers and eye catching to stand out in the space. This project showcases my ability to create unqiue designs and create a model to describe what I was visualising.
This project showcases my ability to think outside the box and create something is simple yet frightening in nature.
01 2
2020-2021
Initially I started off at 01-03 which are my study models by taking up a form of a pufferfish and made them using paper/newspaper and masking tape fo start with ideation and visualisation of my end product. Creating a component and evolving it to a bigger structure. Eventually getting the form I desired.
04-06 is the process of placing materials into respective placement to form structure using paper bowls, red plastic balls, sticks and plastic eyeballs. The wooden sticks were able to shape the paper giving it a rigid, angled structure. Making use of conventional items to create this abstract model.

My sketches showed my thought process when creating the model and how I visualised the model to look like. As my site is between 2 office buildings, I had to create connections from one space to another. Needing to add one structure and eventually having multiple structures in the same area. After sketching, I was concerned of how complicated it might be and I ended up deciding to simplify my model towards the end. Where I would still get my message across.
Having this opportunity to be able to create such a space that is out of the ordinary, it was a fun experience for me and I was plesantly surprised by the outcome that I managed to showcase. Finding simplicity in Chaos.

PROSPECTIVE
Year 2 Semester 1 Project where the modules were derrived from starting off with verbs, creating a collage, derriving a floorplan from the collage and section to create a model. Thereafter zooming into areas of a model, to produce study models and create blue styrofoam modules to start forming a structure.
The whole project was also reliant on the company chosen for us and how we inccorporate the design to create the best user experience. I ended up getting allocated to Dji, this was a studio project. Having a site of choice, I chose a neighbourhood area. Showing how the space allows people to know the company in relation to their surroundings.
The abstract and eye catching colours can be spotted from a mile away. The design was to also act as a green screen and form a transitional space and creating a complex and interesting spatial experience for the users that pass by the space.

PROCESS
VERBS
We were grouped into groups of 3, we had to create a short clip of two verbs of our choice, which made us land on parasailing and parachuting The video consists of elements relating to the two verbs. The video was about a minute long and we had to capture 10-12 freezeframes from the video and print them out. The images were then compiled and analysed to piece out like a puzzle. The freeze frames needed to be all black and white. Finding similar tones and textures that may stretch similarly to each other. Compling them into a collage to express my thought process.
Personally I felt that this was a challenge for me and I struggled a lot but overall I was really proud of the end result. It really required me to look at things from a different perspective.
FLOORPLAN & SECTION
Upon completing the collage, I had to trace out elements that we used to compile these images. I was surprised when we were using the tracing as a floorplan. I had to then follow and understand the connections within the collage and the layer above is the end result.
After the tracing, a section could be done by viewing the floorplan by following the lines, shapes I saw while connecting them together. It was defintiely a challenge having to achieve a section from an unconventional way of producing a floor plan.
SECTION MODEL
The section was cut based off my lectuers choice. I had a difficult time understanding which made me end up having cuts from my section below. Despite that I still managed to get out the section and formed it into a model.

EXPLORATION MODELS
After abstracting components of the model, we had to craft out lines in specific detailed parts of the model that shows a form of connection that I find interesting. We had to analyse three zoomed in spaces within the model. Drawing 3 stick drawings, 3 three dimensional drawings and make 3 exploration models.
The exercise required me to analyse further for different forms and connections instead of drawing directly off what I see which allowed me to see certain elements that I did not notice before.
This was fun to explore knowing I had many details and intersections throughout my model. After the creation of the model we had to develop modules to create the structure of the final structure.
A1
What was interesting to me was that the space had a big and wide element connected to multiple thinner and longer elements and how it held them together in place despite the differences in size and shape.
A2
This was mainly focused on the multiple connections it had together in a row. It was connected by slotting them into the middle piece that has two slits.
A3
The connection between these are the stacking formation that took place between the elements. Some had similar connections to A2 as well.
MODULE EVOLUTION
I made reference to A3 to create my modules. Among all the exploration models A3 looks the most rigid and I felt that it could have been interesting to develop further on. I had to use blue foam to experiment with the different shapes and models.
I redid my modules twice and this is my final outcome. I made it more solidified with more connections.
After making the first model, I had to create another module(Module B) that can connect or intersect with my first module(Module A). Wanting to implement contrasting forms of rigidity and fluidity. Module B will consist of more curved shapes which will enhace the form of the overall module better.
After using these modules and combining them, I joined and multiplied each combination into a big transitional space and created my presentation boards in the following page.

PROSPECTIVE
About The Building
“Prospective” was named for being within view, just like a drone when you see one in the air you’d be surprised. Users should feel as though they are walking through a tunnel to the future, or as if they are walking into a spaceship. As the facade has many detailed components and how they are irregularlly arranged should explain how the future is always unexpected and unpredicttable. Following a long pathway with a double volume space, for di erent experiences. The green-ish colour chosen is a di erent approach from the surroundings as it contrasts to the space where the building acts as a large green screen which does not limit one’s imagination in the space. The space has many gaps and for di erent weather changes, example if it is sunny there will be shadows casted onto the oor.
Site Information & Analysis
The space is at Yew Tee Square. Yew Tee Square is located right next to Yew Tee MRT station. It has a wide range of goods and services for shoppers to choose from. Yew Tee Park and Yew Tee Community Club are just a walking distance from the mall. The site I’ve chosen has many passerbys as this site is the linkway to di erent amentities such as MRTs and HDBs. Among the whole site that space has the most people. During di erent times of day, there will be plenty of people that linger in the space and/or wait as the drop o /pick up point is right beside it.
Reason for choice of site
Why I chose a neightbourhood space is due to the fact that I want the res idents to have more exposure to such advanced technology that they may not be aware of. At this shopping mall there is not one store that has sold or talked about drones. With many intergenerational families within the space, this encourages social interactions within the space through taking photos and ying drones.

SUBCONCIOUS
Year 2 Semester 2 Project for studio and it was another challenge. I was not entirely sure what I was doing throughout my whole project but I ended up enjoying the project a lot. Throughout my portfolio I will guide through the journey
This project is referred to as the slice. We are given a route to follow along City Hall to Fort Canning Park and to create a space within this route and to create an experience within a site of choice, South Beach. My space I have created is for people to let go their inner child. Within a leisure, office environment creating such a space, it is like an adult playground with bright ambience which will keep people that pass by wondering what it is.

THE SLICE
This was the route I was given. Everyone has a different route for their slice and it was such an interesting way of discovering unseen elements while walking throughout the city.
Throughout the space I got the chance to walk through 6 prominent spaces: Fort Canning Park, Central Fire Station, Peninsula Plaza, City Hall MRT, Raffles City and South Beach.
THE JOURNEY
Discovered the slice by two different routes.
Red Route 1: Pink to Red Arrows | 20 Oct @ 5pm-8pm, Rainy & Cloudy City Hall Mrt and towards nearer to Esplanade then walking back down the slice to Fort Canning Park.
Blue Route 2: Blue Arrows | 24 Oct @ 7pm8:30pm, Cloudy & Windy Changed directions and alighted @ Esplanade MRT & walked down the slice which was my preferred route
COLLAGE
A compilation of images I managed to took throughout my slice. I had to observe for patterns, similarities in the entire slice. I made this collage to showcase the elements I have noticed throughout my walk. Thereafter, we had to search up on the backgrounds and my understanding in each space.
It was difficult for me to understand what I was looking out for but it was an interesting experience to look at the city in a different light.
PROCESS
14
KEYWORDS
Discovering keywords from the collage above and discovering similarities in each space and had to decide on the underlined keywords that stood out in relevance to me.
PROMINENT, GRID, TRANSITIONAL, PEACEFUL AND CURIOUSITY
Many important spaces that frames 2D to 3D. Transiting through the space, there was peace and it brings curiosity to ponder on why or how it was so peaceful.
DISCOVERY FROM DEVICE
My device has a filter paper in front to produce out with different textures on the paper when I look at something. The cuppings at the ears are to narrow out sounds that are more distinctive that drew attention to me. Restricting my hearing/sight/sense of smell and it allowed me to be appreciative for my senses.
I got to draw out a graphic on each space throughout my slice as an analysis of the entire space.
DEVICE INTERVENTION
Being able to combine my analysis into an entire space and being able to point out significant things that would potentially end up as my chosen site as well.
Being able to use a device I created to make my own form of analysis in my way of understanding which was such a interesting way of looking out for factors that go unnoticed.
From my device, the images that showed up in my device results and I had to observe and take notes of the sounds and textures that appeared from my device intervention as shown on the right. The bigger the circular image the louder the sound was.
Capturing the city in a different light, as if I was still unaware of the world.
15
16 DEVICE INTERVENTION LEGEND Green: Sound Prominence Orange: Danger Zones Red: Crowd Flow Blue: Transitional
MY SLICE IS A CITY OF...? IDIOSYNCRASY
After analysing my device's data and based off my previous observations. The slice has many different type of spaces, in each space, they have their own personality and ambience. Based of the infographic on the bottom, for example, Fort Canning Park can be very eventful or very peaceful at different times. Which made me arrive to Idiosyncrasy. Each space and their individuality and hence
My slice is a city of IDIOSYNCRASY. Definition: A distinctive mode of behaviour or way of thought to a particular place or thing.
I made an infographic for the things I noticed throughout my slice as well.
ANALYSIS AND DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
It took a lot of analysing to figure out an exact word that describes my space. Each space has its own personality which drew me to Idiosyncrasy.
Along my whole slice, South Beach had the least crowd and it had the most subtle and yet stressful environment due to people rushing to different places.
It is ideal for me to create a space that stands out from its surroundings such as offices, retail spaces and hotels. Developing these ideas for my space was complex and getting out a form which would be prominent in an neutral environment. Had to do some sketches on how visualise what would be appropriate in the spatial planning.
17
ZONING
There were a total of 4 zones in the space. Showing different spaces within the entire site. Having this overall view, shows the experiences that could potentially be in each individual space.
There are additional spaces for chairs in the center, replacing existing plants for people who would prefer more privacy.
ZONE 1: CURIOSITY
Consisting of 3 red buttons. Showing different panels on the ground and the button provokes people to press it while not knowing what it does.
The panel then lights up when pressed and people can walk towards it or go by another route along the space.
ZONE 3: CORE SPACE
It is the main space, has an illuminating treelike structure in the center while the exterior is shaped like a dome. The capsules for people to place their own thoughts into and to hang them up or bring them home. Creating a discussion space, people can share their experiences and thoughts.
THE QUESTION: "WHAT ARE YOUR UNUSUAL HABITS?".
ZONE 2 & 2a: TRANSIT
The colour circles on the ground are lighted panels consisting 3 primary colours: Red, Blue and Yellow. Acting as pavements for moving from one space to another attempting to engage users. Bringing us back to the basics of simplicity in colour.
ZONE 4: RELAXATION
This is the last zone within the space. A big ball pit made from an existing staircase.
This space opens the variation of things the user can choose to do. Whether they want to have some fun, relax or to enjoy the ambience of others.

INTERNSHIP
I had the opportunity to intern at Voila Design Pte Ltd over the course of 6 months.I went for my internship at the start of the semester in Year 3. Being able to get first hand experience from a residential interior design company. I got to see how the company works with other designers, drafters, suppliers and even clients.
I got to experience a lot on site visits and enhancing my technical skills, specifically Abobe Photoshop and AutoCAD. I had to do AutoCAD floorplans, elevations and Adobe Photoshop Moodboards by using images from Pinterest and "render" these Photoshop floorplans as well. I got to help out in 54 projects for drawings. Through this experience I realise that I really love to do AutoCAD.
I did not get the chance to render any visualisations due to the fact that they had a in-house drafter and did not require me to help to render, despite asking whether they wanted help. Towards the end they realised that it is nice if I get to try out which shows the minor renders that I have done during my internship. I got the chance to help modify their logo and helped to change the font and add in an additional statement below as well.
This internship has helped me to interact and understand more about the industry. I had a lot of experience during my internship and I am grateful I got to go through this memorable, insightful and emotional experience.

I wanted to showcase the two bigger projects that I got to help out in.
For 105 Tanah Merah Kehil Road South, I got to help draw a floorplan, some elevations, develop a mood board of my own planning and as well as do out some renders as well. It is a three level inter terrace and they were planning to go for a modern luxury theme. My manager gave me the chance to design the space.
I had some difficulty on trying to plan out a space and this was something quite new to me. I enjoyed the whole process of the planning.
The floorplans are blanked out because there are mood board images from pinterest.

Adobe Photoshop
I had to use Photoshop to design the feature wall and modify the drafter's original render on the bottom left.
It was definitely a fun experience as I got to enhance my skills and also design something that will be for a client.
In the end, the final design chosen was the one on the top. The client was very happy with the design choice.
The floorplans on the left was made using AutoCAD and Photoshop, by finding PNGs from Pinterest and forming out moodboards which will be used for visualisation for the client.
