Pennsylvania DOT Electric Vehicle Mobility

To help the state expand its Electric Vehicle (EV) strategy with clear equity and climate goals, HNTB led the development of the statewide EV Mobility Plan for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The plan was incorporated into the state’s EV Infrastructure Deployment Plan, a requirement to receive funds from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program.

Understanding other states’ EV strategies as well as U.S. EPA and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory best practices, HNTB incorporated stateof-the-art information into the plan. In addition, HNTB assessed industry trends and technologies and developed a process to estimate air quality to forecast expected benefits from EV adoption.

The study included an analysis of the state’s current network of charging locations and facilities to determine gaps — especially for interstate travel, routes of significance and corridors to 326 destinations.
