HM top and bottom labelling with flash labelling function

HM has developed an innovative non-stop top bottom labelling system. The system is designed for 24/7 hour operation to achieve the highest possible efficiency. The system has two top and two bottom labellers and when one machine is running out of labels the other one automatically takes over. This eliminates the need for label change stops.

Automatic label control The system automatically checks that all labels used are correct via a scanner and a PLC checking the barcodes of the backing paper. All top and bottom labels have a barcode which must be the same in order for production to start. In this way only the correct labels are used and the risk of production recalls is eliminated.

Print of labels The top and bottom labellers are equipped with print engines able to print barcodes, production dates, batch numbers and ingredient information. Print width is up to 170 mm on top labels and 120 mm on bottom labels.

Production control The system will check all labels and verify that labels are applied and that the data is correct. Each product will be scanned by an image-based scanner and verified. If a label is missing or data is not correct the product will be rejected to a bin where the product can be reworked.

Flash Labelling Additionally the system is able to label all products with top flash labels used for special offers. The product will typically be labelled with round labels indicating special offers during campaigns.

The labeller can be turned 45 degrees to each side to be able to apply the label with the desired angle on the product.

Easy operation of the system via a touch panel which will indicate all error modes

At each label roll a sensor for detection will detect that both top and bottom labels are applied. Also low label warning is included in the system.

The labellers can easily be extracted for quick change of both top and bottom label rolls.
