香港小交響樂團 2012/2013 樂季的成績，實在令人驕傲。樂團 不僅繼續致力拉近古典音樂與大眾間的距離，也積極向更多海 外城市及樂迷推介香港文化和藝術家：樂團獲世界數一數二的 鋼琴音樂節法國拉羅克．昂迪榮國際鋼琴音樂節邀請，於普羅 旺斯演出三場音樂會；其後又應邀到溫哥華、卡爾加里、多倫 多、蒙特利爾及紐約等北美城市巡演。同行的有 13 年前已與香 港小交響樂團首次合作演出的天才小提琴家楊天媧，以及駐團 藝術家盧思泓，後者更演出了本地作曲家陳慶恩為笙與樂團而 作的新曲《一霎好風》。演出除了得到觀眾、評論及出席音樂會 的同儕的好評，更令我們鼓舞的，是能與這些演奏家及作曲家 一起成長，在他們走向國際的路途出一分力。 在香港，樂團以佛瑞的《安魂曲》為樂季及法國五月藝術節 20 周年揭開序幕，集合本地精英，包括三個本地合唱團、女高音 葉葆菁及男中音林俊傾力演出。同時，樂團既於第 41 屆香港藝 術節開幕節目中獻技，為美國芭蕾舞團的三個節目作現場伴 奏，亦在樂團的藝術節音樂會上首演了樂團首位駐團藝術家伍 卓賢的雙笙協奏曲（由作曲家及盧思泓聯合演奏）。 另一位駐團藝術家，鬼才編舞家伍宇烈則與樂團合作了兩個節 目，分別於國際綜藝合家歡及新視野藝術節演出：別出心裁的 《古典音樂：芭蕾音樂知多少》，網羅多位本地舞蹈家合作， 寓教育於娛樂；另一個則是破天荒的跨界演出《拉威爾 1875 vs 拉威爾 2012》，著名法國鋼琴家堤伯肯恩、得獎台灣舞蹈藝 術家周書毅及樂團首席格德霍特與樂團同台演出，周書毅在 拉威爾的獨奏、合奏或管弦樂聲中在台上台下妙曼起舞，而經 過整年在伍宇烈主持的工作坊訓練下，香港小交響樂團樂師則 拋開樂譜，憑記憶在香港大會堂音樂廳不同角落邊行邊奏 《波萊羅》。 2012/2013 樂季，樂團與多位星級音樂家首次合作，包括中提 琴家賴沙諾夫、風趣的搞鬼孖寶大樂隊及歌手王菀之；也很高 興能與老拍檔，包括指揮李心草、簡文彬、黎志華及林敬基， 大提琴家威斯帕維，小提琴家伊貝拉紀莫娃，和觀眾至愛的麥 萊與麥兜等再次合作。還有，我們繼續通過教育及合家歡音樂 會，以及在香港大會堂及太古坊 ArtisTree 演出的《樂聚一小時》 系列，為不同層面的觀眾送上好音樂。 希望大家欣賞這個樂季我們帶給大家的美妙音樂，我們期待與 更多本港和海外人士分享獨一無二的「香港小交響樂團經驗」。
Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s 2012/2013 season is truly memorable. Stepping into the second decade as the orchestra’s Music Director, I am happy to report that not only is Hong Kong Sinfonietta continuing to bridge the gap between classical music and the people of Hong Kong, we also made our début at one of the world’s most prestigious piano festivals – Festival International de Piano La Roque d’Anthéron in France, as well as in the North America in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montréal and New York. We featured violin prodigy Yang Tian-wa, who first performed with the orchestra 13 years ago, and Artist Associate Loo Szewang, who performed Chan Hing-yan’s new sheng concerto to great success. Apart from all the encouragements and enthusiastic responses from audiences, critics and fellow artists which warmed my heart, I take pride and feel a special kind of joy to see how Hong Kong Sinfonietta has been a part of these artists’ growth into maturity. At home in Hong Kong, we opened the orchestra’s season and the 20th Le French May Arts Festival with Fauré’s Requiem, bringing together three local choirs, soprano Yuki Ip and baritone Albert Lim. We also opened the 2013 Hong Kong Arts Festival with the American Ballet Theatre in three different programmes, while the world première of our first Artist Associate Ng Cheuk-yin’s double sheng concerto (performed by Loo Sze-wang and the composer himself) was the highlight of our own concert at the Festival. Another Artist Associate, the multi-talented choreographer Yuri Ng designed a new rendition of Know Your Ballet Music with local dancers for us as a contribution to the International Arts Carnival; and for the biannual New Vision Festival, he created an exciting crossover production Ravel the Traveller which featured French pianist Cédric Tiberghien, award-winning Taiwanese dance artist Chou Shu-yi and our Concertmaster James Cuddeford. And to top the programme, the entire orchestra, having worked closely with Yuri in movement workshops during the year, performed Ravel’s Boléro as they moved around different corners of City Hall Concert Hall, sans their music parts! In 2012/2013, we enjoyed our first-time collaborations with stars such as violist Maxim Rysanov, the hilarious violin-piano duo Igudesman & Joo and singer Ivana Wong. We also welcomed the return of old friends including conductors Li Xin-cao, Chien Wen-pin, Jason Lai and Ken Lam, cellist Pieter Wispelwey, violinist Alina Ibragimova, and our audiences’ all-time favourites Alasdair Malloy and McDull. Not forgetting our main mission, our audience development series and family concerts, as well as our One-Hour Classics series at City Hall (Good Music This Lunch, Good Music This Morning, Good Music This Day and One-Hour Classics for Schools) and at ArtisTree also played a significant part this season. I hope you enjoyed the fantastic music we brought to you as much as we had producing them. We look forward to spreading the unique “Hong Kong Sinfonietta experience” to more people in Hong Kong and abroad.
