香港小交響樂團一直相信音樂是人人皆宜，不論年齡，樂團致力透過不同形式向觀眾推介好音樂。 2015/2016 樂季樂團有幸邀請得聞名國際的德國指揮家、小提琴家及教育家柏鵬出任樂團首位首席客席指揮，除了指揮音樂會外，他亦與音樂總監葉詠詩緊密合作，將樂團帶往另一高峰。 2015/2016 樂季是香港小交響樂團演出豐盛的一年，共 64 個節目，合共把 126 場現場演出帶給本地及海外的觀眾（不包括講座、大師班和工作坊），與逾 96,000 名本港及海外觀眾一同感受好音樂。而各地樂迷也可以透過網上、電台及電視的轉播，欣賞到樂團的演出，讓好音樂傳千里。而樂團富創意的節目策劃及著重觀眾拓展的方針取得成績，樂團主辦的主要售票音樂會取得平均 91% 入座率的佳績，而免費音樂會亦知音者眾。樂團本樂季與多位重量級音樂家合作，包括作曲家／指揮家彭德雷茨基、指揮家里霖、小提琴家甘祈頓、小號演奏家赫登伯格、單簧管演奏家梅耶、大提琴家威斯帕維和梅奈塞斯，合作的閃耀新星有小提琴家曾宇謙、索科洛夫和艾白娜、大提琴家柏斯卡爾、長號演奏家米利謝爾、鋼琴家金鎮秀及牧童笛演奏家譚銘恩等。今季的駐團藝術家為著名的視覺藝術家石家豪，而李嘉齡、朱

今樂季的演出。再者，樂團先後首演了多位本地作曲家的交響樂及室樂作品。香港小交響樂團今樂季繼續香港文化大使的使命，先後於瑞士及新加坡首演。在瑞士，分別為在日內瓦維多利亞音樂廳、蘇黎世音樂廳和弗里堡大學大會堂舉行的音樂會系列演出了開幕音樂會，同時為香港作曲家鄧慧中的《明光》作歐洲首演；在新加坡，樂團演出了伍宇烈跨界得獎名作《小城大兵的故事》之新編，網羅了香港、台灣、日本、馬來西亞的藝術精英，促進文化交流。季初，樂團成員與來自七個國家 11 個城市的樂團樂師組成統營音樂節樂團，於韓國統營國際音樂節演出後，再於日本與香港巡演。樂團亦應邀往法國艾克斯雷班《浪漫之夜》音樂節，演出閉幕音樂會。以上種種，沒有各位觀眾、媒體友好及合作伙伴的長期支持不可能成事。我謹代表香港小交響樂團同人，感謝香港特別行政區政府、贊助機構、捐助人士的支持和信任。希望未來更多人能支持樂團，讓我們繼續茁壯成長，以好音樂繼續觸動觀眾，激發創意和靈感。

At Hong Kong Sinfonietta we believe that music is good for everyone and we strive to inspire people of all ages through our various musical offerings. Joining us in this mission in 2015/2016 is acclaimed German conductor/violinist/chamber musician/educator Christoph Poppen, our first-ever Principal Guest Conductor. Apart from conducting the orchestra, he is working closely with Music Director Yip Wing-sie to strengthen the orchestraâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s work in nurturing the musicians and audiences of Hong Kong. The 2015/2016 season was a busy one for Hong Kong Sinfonietta. The orchestra performed in a total of 64 programmes with 126 performances (not including talks, classes and workshops) at home and abroad, inspiring over 96,000 audience members live, while more music lovers from around the world heard our performances online and through radio and television networks. We are glad to report that our creative programming and audience development efforts have proven results. Average audience percentage to the ticketed concerts presented by the orchestra remained high at 91%, and we also reached out to the community through our various free concert series. Highlights of the season included collaborations with such heavyweight guests as composer/conductor Krzysztof Penderecki, conductor Helmuth Rilling, violinist Gidon Kremer, trumpeter HĂĽkan Hardenberger, clarinettist Paul Meyer, cellists Pieter Wispelwey and Antonio Meneses, as well as concerts with rising stars including violinists 4 Hong Kong Sinfonietta Limited 2015/ 2016 Annual Report

Tseng Yu-chien, Valeriy Sokolov and Veronika Eberle, cellist Aurélien Pascal, trombonist Fabrice Millischer, pianist Ben Kim and recorder virtuoso Stefan Temmingh. As we welcomed our new HKS Artist Associate, visual artist Wilson Shieh this season, we also featured our Artist Associate “alumni” Colleen Lee, Chu Pak-him, Ng Cheuk-yin and Yuri Ng in their various capacities. In addition, we gave the world premières of a few orchestral and chamber works by Hong Kong composers in 2015/2016. Outside of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Sinfonietta made its début in Switzerland and Singapore this season. In Switzerland, the orchestra opened the concert season of three concert series at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, Tonhalle Zürich and Aula Magna in Fribourg, and gave the European première of Hong Kong composer Joyce Wai-chung Tang’s Clear Light. To Singapore we brought our new version of Yuri Ng’s award-winning crossover production A Soldier’s Story – The New Generation. The unique “concert-drama” featured artistic talents from Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia and Hong Kong, fostering cultural exchange. At the beginning of the season, our musicians joined members of 11 other orchestras from 7 countries to form the Tongyeong Festival Orchestra which participated in the Tongyeong International Music Festival in Korea before touring to Japan and Hong Kong. We were also invited to France to play the Festival Finale concert at Festival Les Nuits Romantiques in Aix-les-Bains. We could not have made all these achievements without the ongoing support of our audiences, media friends and collaborating partners. On behalf of everyone at Hong Kong Sinfonietta, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to them, and to our sponsors, donors and the Hong Kong Government for their generous support and for believing in us and our mission. 音樂總監報告 Music Director’s Report 這個樂季的主題「Inspired by Music」是希望人人都能打開心扉，讓音樂為生活注滿活力和歡愉。靈感，無名無狀，無處不在，樂團 2015/2016 樂季就是通過無窮的靈感與觀眾分享音樂的奧妙。樂季以令人興奮的跨國跨文化合作揭開序幕：樂團與來自韓國、日本、德國、瑞士、匈牙利、澳洲和美國等地 11 個樂團的樂師組成統營音樂節樂團，在樂團首席客席指揮柏鵬棒下，與傳奇小提琴家甘祈頓演奏西貝遼士的小提琴協奏曲，以紀念作曲家的 150 年誕辰。樂團亦演奏了 20 年前離世的韓國當代作曲家尹伊桑的作品，尹伊桑於統營出生，令這次演出別具意義。於選曲方面，在橫跨三個樂季的西貝遼士交響曲系列於今樂季劃上圓滿句號之後，我們推出了「相約大師柏鵬」系列，為觀眾呈獻布拉姆斯的交響曲及精選的協奏曲。除了兩次常規音樂會，該系列還包括兩場富

Other guest artists who have inspired our audiences through various audience development initiatives included star trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger in All About Brass, recorder virtuoso Stefan Temmingh in our ArtisTree Residency, cellist Pieter Wispelwey in UpClose Encounters, percussionist/family-concert presenter Alasdair Malloy in Good Music for Kids, piano pedagogue David Dolan in Inspired by Mozart, and one of the pillars of 20th-century music, Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki. Apart from giving a lecture-recital and a composers’ workshop, the 82-year-old Maestro conducted the orchestra in a concert featuring his Second Violin Concerto “Metamorphosen”.

We chose the theme “Inspired by Music” this season and invited everyone to open and re-open their hearts to music, so that there can be renewed energy, and more joy in our lives. Inspirations come in all shapes and sizes, from the past and from the present, and our 2015/2016 season was full of that, and more. We began with a special collaboration with members of 11 orchestras from Korea, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Australia and USA, giving concerts in Korea, Japan and Hong Kong as the Tongyeong Festival Orchestra. Conducted by our Principal Guest Conductor Christoph Poppen, the concerts not only celebrated the 150th birthday of Sibelius with his Violin Concerto featuring the legendary Gidon Kremer, we also paid tribute to contemporary Korean composer Isang Yun, who was born in Tongyeong and died 20 years ago. As we finished our Sibelius symphony cycle this season, Christoph started a new series Inspired by Brahms, bringing to the audience the complete symphonies and selected concertos of the composer, as well as some Austro-German masterpieces. In addition to two orchestral concerts, the series this year also included two educational programmes entitled All About Brahms, where Christoph introduced the life and music of the composer via a sampler of his symphonic and chamber works. He even joined our musicians in the chamber concert!

This season we welcomed back veteran choral director Helmuth Rilling, the respected Bach expert born in the same year as Maestro Penderecki, and celebrated SingFest’s BACH 330 with his great Mass in B Minor. At the other end of the time spectrum, we gave the world première of // beforedark . hk . cn / by Charles Kwong, the European première of Joyce Wai-chung Tang’s Clear Light, and various Hong Kong and Asian premières including a trombone concerto, a recorder concerto and a number of chamber works written by living composers. Last but not least we presented yet a new version of HKS Artist Associate “alumnus” Yuri Ng’s crossover production A Soldier’s Story – The New Generation in Hong Kong and Singapore, featuring the young Tchaikovsky Violin Competition winner Tseng Yu-chien from Taiwan and top dance artists from Asia. For the first time, we had a visual artist, Wilson Shieh, as the HKS Artist Associate this season. Inspired by Music, he created for our 2015/2016 season a colourful and vibrant springtime image in a reinvented “blue and white porcelain style”, aptly demonstrating the amalgamation of inspirations from classical music and fine art, as well as the old and the new. These inspirations came together again during our ArtisTree Residency this year, as Stefan Temmingh put together a series of interactive concerts under the theme Inspired Communications. Wilson, on the other hand, infused into ArtisTree and Taikoo Place paintings in “stained glass style”, inspired by the Baroque music Stefan and the orchestra played. His drawings done especially for us are precious mementoes of our mutual inspiration during the season and we hope our music-making inspired many in the same way.

駐團藝術家 HKS Artist Associate 2015/2016

香港小交響樂團自 2006 年起舉辦「駐團藝術家」計劃，由音樂總監葉詠詩邀請不同範疇的藝術家在樂季中以不同形式與樂團交流和合作，亦為古典音樂創造新的可能性。 2015/2016 樂季香港小交響樂團駐團藝術家為著名的視覺藝術家石家豪。石家豪以樂季主題「Inspired by Music」創作了樂季小冊子封面，其後再將意念延伸，將香港著名的建築變成音樂總監指揮棒下的音樂花園，設計成明信片送給樂團瑞士及法國巡演之旅的觀眾，亦親身參與這次歐洲之旅。在今樂季的「香港小交響樂團 ArtisTree 駐場計劃」的場地 ArtisTree 和太古坊的場地設計，石家豪繼續樂季主題，令「Inspired by Music」不僅躍然紙上，也可見於具體建築，令這次的計劃成為一次音樂與視覺藝術共融的盛事。此外，他又為樂團主持視覺藝術講座，向樂團成員扼要地介紹東西方繪畫的歷史和流派，增加團員對不同藝術範疇的認識。

Established in 2006, the HKS Artist Associate scheme has been providing a platform for local artists (of all types) to grow and develop. In 2015/2016, visual artist Wilson Shieh joined our HKS Artist Associate family and created a vibrant, colourful image for the season theme “Inspired by Music”. He also expanded on his ideas and drew a postcard for the orchestra’s audiences in France and Switzerland as he went on tour, transferring some iconic buildings of Hong Kong to musical blooms under the baton of Music Director Yip Wing-sie. Wilson Shieh infused his paintings into ArtisTree and Taikoo Place for our ArtisTree Residency this year. With the printed publicity materials as well as the decor of the venue, our annual appearance there was turned into a fullblown music and visual arts venture. Last but not least, he inspired orchestra musicians and administrators with his talks on art history, both Western and Chinese.
