Herpes Treatment and Herpes Drugs I take on my Herpes Life

Details of my condition: A beautiful lady in a red dress bought me a drink at a disco bar in 1979. I wound up getting a lot more than I thought. I didn't even know there was a Herpes when my Doctor gave me the news.

I had an outbreak within a week and that's when I got the news from my

Doctor. After that I had outbreaks about every year. When Zovirax came out, I used the topical cream and 400mg capsules during outbreaks.

About 3 years ago, my outbreaks became more frequent, about 4-5 times a year. I have since gone on a 200mg maintenance dose of Acyclovir once a day with my morning meds/vitamins/supplements. I have been free of outbreaks for about a year.

Drugs I take & Dosages: Acyclovir 200mg every day once a day. I switch to 400mg if I "sense" anything.

Efficacy: Shown to reduce the frequency of Herpes outbreaks Side effects: I notice no side effects, but it was recommended to me by my doctor that I go off it after a year, for a few months due to the stress on my body in metabolizing it.

Other types of treatments: For Men: Triple antibiotic ointment as blisters pop, but only for 3 days.

Then let it dry up and scab. Don't pick scabs. Don't masturbate. Above all, don't infect someone else by not waiting until you are ABSOLUTELY sure you are healed up.

Advice to other members: This type of thing happens in life. We get sick, friends and relatives die,

people get horrific illnesses...there are worse curses to be suffered. We could have contracted Hepatitis C...Cancer, had a debilitating stroke, lost a limb.

Let's all step back and realize that life is not over because of Herpes. Yes, it is changed, but the basics still apply...there is always someone worse off than we are..you need to be good alone before you're good in a relationship...and I firmly believe that if you truly love me, you'll trust me to make sure you don't get it.

Be armed with information. Google it. Practice it. If you've found someone you care about, you need to be able to be convincing that you can protect and defend a lady from Herpes...that the big head decides when there is sex and when there is not...that's all because you have to be up front before sex...yes we get rejected from time to time, but hey, the vanillas get rejected too!
