Grammy nominated singer and breakout actress LESLIE GRACE has garnered critical and fan attention with her impressive resume. Her 2013 debut self-titled album, Leslie Grace, earned her the first of four Latin Grammy nominations and numerous other accolades in the U.S. and Latin America. She was recently named one of Variety’s 10 Actors To Watch and was also featured as one of Hollywood Reporter’s Next Gen Talents in 2021.
Grace stars in and executive produce QCode’s “How to Win Friends and Disappear People,” a dark-comedy thriller podcast in which she voices the part of a young woman who is actually a centuries-old vampire living in modern-day New York City. The series ranked as the #1 scripted podcast on Apple within its first 24 hours of release in February.
Grace recently starred in her first feature film, the highly anticipated and critically acclaimed IN THE HEIGHTS. The film is based on Lin Manuel-Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical, directed by CRAZY RICH AISANS’ Jon Chu. She brings the empowering Nina character to life, often drawing on her own experiences growing up with immigrant parents who encouraged her to dream big. She has a number of breathtaking ballads within the film. The film premiered in theaters and HBO Max in June 2021.
Next up, Grace is set to star in “The Thicket” alongside Juliette Lewis and Peter Dinklage. Directed by Elliot Lester, the western film is set to release in October 2023.

Most recently on the music front, Grace released her latest single “BACHATICA,” returning to her Dominican roots with her signature R&B-infused Spanish-language bachata. Prior, Grace, alongside Meek Mill and Boi-1da, recorded a re-make of the Latin classic “CONGA” as her latest single under Sony Music on January 22nd. Grace took over on lead vocals and wrote all new verses on the track and brought it into the modern-day Miami-sound that has become a phenomenon in the US during the past few years.

A true force to be reckoned with in the music space, Grace reached #1 on Billboard’s Latin Radio Airplay chart in 2013, making her the youngest female Latin artist to achieve this milestone, with her self-titled album’s lead track, a cover of Carole King’s “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” She’s worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Diane Warren, hit collaborations with superstar artists including Maluma, Balvin, Becky G, Fat Joe, etc. and has played sold out concerts throughout the U.S., Latin America and Europe. She performed and presented at this year’s Latin Grammys as well.
Grace was born in The Bronx to Dominican parents, and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

PBS and our member stations are pleased to join the Hispanic Heritage Foundation in celebrating this year’s Heritage Award honorees. We are excited to share this event with audiences nationwide on PBS.

The Hispanic Heritage Awards are a cornerstone of our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on PBS. This fall, we will also honor Hispanic heritage and culture with a wide array of programming, including POV’s “Bulls and Saints,” a love story about reverse migration, rebellion, and redemption, INDEPENDENT LENS’ “Sansón and Me,” from VOCES and filmmaker Rodrigo Reyes, and AMERICAN MASTERS’ “A Song for Cesar,” exploring how music and the arts were instrumental to the farmworkers’ social movement. We'll also premiere a new three-part series BECOMING FRIDA KAHLO, and share new episodes of ROSIE’S RULES and ALMA’S WAY from PBS KIDS. As always, please check your local listings and visit PBS.org to see our full list of programs and performance specials highlighting Hispanic Americans.
For over 50 years, PBS has celebrated the rich diversity of our nation. Building on our longstanding commitment to diverse stories and storytellers, we look forward to sharing the Hispanic Heritage Awards with our viewers across our platforms and in every community.
Congratulations to the honorees!
Paula Kerger President & CEO PBS

The accomplishments of Hispanic Americans through the years remind all of us that in America we are blessed with the freedom to live, work, and worship in peace and to build a better life for ourselves and our children.

– Ronald Reagan
