Aussie self-primed pumps
Self-primed for Hire More pressure please Originally designed for high pressure firefighting and village protection, Aussie’s Brigade Boss pumps proved Picking the right rental pump for purpose is ideal for high head dewatering applications. Powered by Honda petrol engines, they can be made simple by these experts. either recoil or electric starts; serving a purpose for applications where sites were reasonably “civilised”.
Many hire companies stay away from pump hire because of the investment and training required. Australian Pump Industries, leaders in the production of self-priming pumps are aimed squarely at supporting the hire industry.
No job too big or small
Two- and three-inch pumps are quite common in hire fleets but, as Aussie Pump discovered, trash pumps cannot perform all the jobs necessarily required by hirers.
“We get requests for pumps with flows in the thousands of litres per minute, but also hire companies calling up and wanting to know if we have pumps that will do high lift from quarries, construction sites, or even in some cases, local government emergency situations”, said Product Manager, Brad Farrugia.
A free course helps customers choose the right pump for the job.
Aussie’s site boss
These three- and four-inch ‘Site Boss’ pumps, come in super heavy duty 3/8 mm diameter frames with integrated lifting bar using Yanmar diesel engines.
Hot-dipped galvanised, the frames and base plate, with anti-vibration mounts, means the products can weather tough site conditions. With tougher OH&S regulations, the company then also added E-stop, lock up battery isolation and fire extinguisher to make the units suitable for virtually any job.
Big boys too
Aussie also developed six-inch pumps that would move up to 6,000 lpm with the ability to handle solids in suspension, up to 80mm in diameter.
The big, self-priming, Aussie MQ600TD trash pumps not only handle solids, but also have a vertical lift of up to 46m and will self-prime through a vertical lift of 7.6m.
On sites involving dirty water or sewer bypass, the big six-inch diesel drive pumps have a front opening port that enables a choked impeller to be cleaned out in a matter of minutes.
Why self-priming?
Trying to fill suction hoses and prime end suction style pumps, meant either using a compressor or vacuum pump, whereas a self-priming pump removes those failure points.
“We found most customer complaints around service work was repairing the vacuum pumps or compressors,” said Farrugia. “With our self-priming concept, we got rid of that complication”.
Free training
For hire companies wanting to understand more about customer qualification, Aussie’s Pumpology, provides a free course on how to select the right pump for the job.
“With the hire industry having such a complexity of products to offer, it means the gear must be simple, trouble-free and fully backed by the manufacturers. That’s exactly what we do with our pumps here at Aussie”, said Farrugia.
Further information and details of the training course is readily available from Australian Pump Industries throughout Australia.
