The God who is worshipped on Pagerwesi is Sanghyang Paramesti Guru or God Siva - Also known as teacher or guru of the universe, Sanghyang Paramesti Guru, also leads and teaches human on how to live their life appropriately, without giving in to bad behavior and evil desires. Prior to Pagerwesi, there are two minor holiday, called Soma Ribek and Sabuh Mas. Soma Ribek is celebrated on the Monday prior to Pagerwesi and it is dedicated to Bhatari Sri or known as the Goddess of rice and the day after Soma Ribek, called Sabuh Mas. Etymologically "Sabuh" means spread and "Mas" means gold. On this holiday, Balinese worship the god as a wealth giver, hoping that the god will fill their days with gold and bless them in their daily life for the whole year.

Etymologically Pagerwesi derives from the two Balinese words "pager" and "wesi" which means fence and iron to protect minds, speech and deeds, so human won't do harms or known as self protection. This “rerahinan gumi” or important ceremony is celebrated every 210 days on Wednesday of Shinta or the first week in the Balinese Pawukon calendar system. This time it will be celebrated on 12th March 2014.

Rabies
HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) is a globally recognised management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
Rabies is an acute infectious disease of animals caused by viruses neurotrophic of RNA viruses; genus Lyssavirus; family Rhabdoviridae.. It is a disease primarily of animals and is transmitted to humans via a bite or scratch from an infected animal. Person-to-person transmission is extremely rare. Rabies is an almost invariably fatal disease of the brain with an average incubation period of three to eight weeks. Without medical intervention, patients die from respiratory paralysis. Although rabies in traveler is rare, such cases do occur. There is a medium to high risk level of rabies in Bali which is usually spread by an animal bite or animal saliva. There are – reportedly – around 100 dog bites sustained in Bali each day; that means 100 bites potentially carrying a real risk of rabies. Without treatment, or if treatment is delayed, rabies is almost always fatal. To minimize the risk of rabies infection, don’t pat any stray dogs or have direct contact with cats or monkeys. If bitten or scratched by any animal, you should immediately wash the wound thoroughly with clean water and soap or detergent for 5-10 minutes under running water / flush. Dry with a clean cloth then apply an antiseptic containing povidone-iodine, then immediately seek medical assistance. Our resort has exercise strict feral animals control and applies mitigation steps on the premise to mitigate the rabies risk to ensure your safe and enjoyable vacation.
It took a lot of time, training and hard work from the resort team to get everything in place. Every step of food preparation from purchasing to deliverance was analysed for every loopholes where ‘danger’ could occur and we put processes into place to prevent that. It is now a very well oiled way of working, so strict that even the General Manager is not allowed in the kitchen without necessary precautions and approval from the kitchen team!
