Project Statement

The facade is usually perceived as the outer covering or the insulating layer of the body and parallel correlations can be drawn for an envelope to a building. In that sense, it proactively assumes the role of fencing the building. With this thesis, I would like to re-interpret a building fence as a spectator and its desired effect on the form and image. The idea is to focus on the impact that change in the composition of this fence can have on the form, spatial quality, visual and physical character of the structure and its relation to its interiors and exteriors. Thereby, defining and informing the form and aesthetics of the volume being designed.
