Nature’s Blueprint for Biohacking Human Potential

Having

had the privilege to work in the wellness field for more than 50 years each, we have seen trends, “flash in the pan,” and lots of outright duds. Our founder, Ann Wigmore, brought the world to the field of lifestyle medicine.

Today, a quarter of the way into the twenty-first century, the new term for this is BIOHACKING. This fresh genre is actually the next chapter in the book on how to enhance our longevity. Ironically, what we must learn about, pay for, and scientifically research is common with our ancestry. When the sun went down at night before electric lights, people naturally slept, and when the sun came up, they awoke. Our nomadic relative constantly moved and exercised, stretched, lifted weights, and did what we now name today, aerobics. Since there were no stores or fast-food joints, they ate the organic plant foods on the side of the paths they forged, moving from the north to the south and the south to the north. There was no workload stress or social norms to follow, and relationships were communal and tribal, so a sense of security constantly reigned.

Lo and behold, you now have what we today call Hippocrates Wellness Biohacking Program. We have personally been engaged in this fruitful process since our late teens. I, Brian, Co-authored a book with Dr. Elliot Levy: "How to Live to 120." My newest is called "Quantum Human," which teaches you much more than people's fixation on just their bodies. The subtitle is: Embarking Fearlessly Into A New Era Of Consciousness And Wellbeing. This ultimate contribution to slowing the aging process is really about biohacking the multiple universes. This magazine, along with the theme of the empowering state-of-the-art tools that we have been clinically utilizing and accruing data on for seven decades, will help you navigate your way out of the commercial pop culture and into the solid and scientifically proven methods that we have successfully employed with hundreds of thousands of people.

We have both discovered that the foremost way to increase lifespan is to live passionately with purpose, which we realized during our combined 107 years of work.

We assure you not a theory but a that this is proven fact.

Once you have accomplished this essential first step, all else becomes enthusiastically invited into your life so that your “You” can become a contributor rather than a deterrent to hyperhealth.

Be Well,

Q: How can I naturally boost my immune system?

– Sarah Collins, Portland, OR

A: Our gathering of cells called the immune system has a general called the T-cell, a colonel called the “Killer Cell,” and a sergeant called the “Fighter Cell.” Some of their soldiers from the white blood cell family specifically fight against the unique pathogens that enter our bodies ( Viruses, bacteria, molds, fungus, etc.). The entire Hippocrates program, since 1956, has developed around the proven primes that it is your immune system that prevents and reverses disease. Adequate sleep, exercise, plant-based living nutrition, hydration, and, most importantly, emotional stability are the hallmarks of wellbeing and long life.

Q: Can Red Light therapy improve skin health and anti-aging? – Jessica Wu, San Francisco, CA

A: Red Light therapy is renowned for its effect on enhancing collagen development. Simultaneously, you are being rewarded with this cosmetic positive; the blood is being stimulated so that everything from your brain to your heart to your libido works better. Needless to say, this strengthens your body's resilience to aging and disease. This is why all of our guests are gifted this within the Hippocrates programs.

Q: How does mindfulness affect my physical health?

– Emily Rodriguez, New York, NY

A: Mindfulness is actually intentional focus, which helps to wash away the gnawing repetitive thoughts that sabotage our health. There is a negative biological cascade of cortisol that was extensively used in humans' primal phase so that we could run and climb to protect and save our lives. Unfortunately, now it is perpetually assessed so that our cells are no longer where they should be but in fight and flight mode, which plays havoc on the organs and lymphatic and immune cell systems.

Q: How does Energy Medicine contribute to overall wellness? – Olivia Reynolds, Sydney, Australia

A: My latest book, Quantum Human, introduces the future of healthcare via energy medicine. Our bodies are first and foremost frequencies of photonic energy, which is deeper and more important than the physical cells, tissues, and bones they create. Our energy medicine department has been providing support to all of Hippocrates' guests since 1980. We are constantly at the forefront of the latest

effective technology, which jumpstarts a dimming and ineffective anatomy.

Q: What is the connection between gut health and mental clarity? – Brandon Scott, London, UK

A: Your microbiome, ideally, is a perfect gathering of healthy bacteria that rapidly move up and down the vagus nerve to and from the brain, allowing the serotonin receptors to turn on their chemistry. This calms the mind so that it assists in the removal of depression, anxiety, and even more formidable mental concerns. With our out-ofcontrol, toxic diets, and lifestyle, we have virtually wiped out our intestinal flora, leading to diverticulosis, diverticulitis, Crohn's disease, IBS, and the plethora of psychological concerns that did not exist a decade ago.

Q: What natural treatments help reduce chronic inflammation? – Daniel Kim, Los Angeles, CA

A: The most effective remedy for chronic inflammation is Hippocrates' signature living food, raw, plant-based diet. After adopting this ascension, infrared, red light, cryotherapy, and cold plunge therapies rapidly shift the body from inflammation to circulation.

Q: Can acupuncture and neuromuscular therapy improve longevity? – Sophia Martinez, Miami, FL

A: Thousands of years ago, the instinctual wisdom of Chinese physicians brought about the mapping of the meridian bodily systems. This network of connectivity can be stimulated by acupuncture, acupressure, and biofeedback technologies used here by our Hippocrates guests. Regarding neuromuscular massage, this technique re-sculps the connective tissue and muscular and neurological systems back to their normal functional placement. When this occurs, there is an alignment that sparks energy and enhances lifespan and health.

Q: I’ve recently learned the importance of using a water filter. Which one do you recommend and why? – Aoife Gallagher, Galway, Ireland

A: Unless you work with a scientist like Dr. Roy Speiser, who has helped our guests nationally and internationally to customize a system that specifically takes out the disease-causing pollutants in your geographic area, it is best to drink distilled water, which you make yourself in a distillation unit. This is what Anna Maria and I, and all of our four children, have consumed since 1971.

KRISTINA PRADA

EXPANDING WELLBEING VIA A LIVING PROGRAM

KRISTINA PRADA (RIGHT) & HER DAUGHTER

In 2011, I found myself on the Hippocrates Wellness Campus in West Palm Beach, Florida, experiencing a multitude of symptoms due to a weak immune system. This is an entirely different environment than where I come from in Bucharest, Romania, but I felt at home and with my tribe. As I learned how the Institute’s decades of work formed happy, healthy, and successful lives for hundreds of thousands, it made me understand the significance of this foundational process, especially when raising children.

Six months before my visit, I opened a very small school since my children needed an education. This way, I could support them and ensure excellent results. I called it 'authentic education,' one that prepares boys and girls for life and practical and expansive ways of thought.

During my stay, Anna Maria and Brian Clement, who still had children in school at the time, invited me to attend the Montessori education center that three of their children attended.

The principal was kind and spent thirty minutes with me, and this opened my eyes to a whole new world that I knew nothing about. Although European, when I heard about Montessori, an Italian who developed a progressive educational program a century ago, “the bells rang,” and I said that I must bring this back to Romania.

Slowly but surely, we sent our teachers for training elsewhere in Europe and the USA. Now, we have seventeen on our faculty who can guide our two hundred students toward a healthy way of thinking.

On our campus, we grow sprouts and have an organic garden, which is a significant part of why our children are happy and successful. No animal foods are served, and we understand that Mother Earth is not only the mother of all life but the mother of every one of us.

Currently, we go up to the age of fourteen and in the future, we hope to go all the way up to college. It is so wonderful to watch what happens when you plant seeds in rich soil, and the outcome is strong, healthy young women and men.

I encourage each and every one of you, who are parents and  grandparents, to take your lifestyle as seriously as you do intellectual knowledge.

Without a proper lifestyle, the intellect and, more importantly, the soul and instinct are not functioning optimally.

Thank you, Hippocrates, for helping me and my family, but more appreciably, encouraging me to help hundreds of other families.

LAURA REESE

OVERCOMING MENOPAUSE STRUGGLES: HOW HIPPOCRATES GAVE ME MY LIFE BACK

I stayed at Hippocrates for a few weeks, and I felt incredibly fortunate to have had this transformative experience. I genuinely left feeling like a new person.

Three months ago, I had been unwell, and my daughter had been going through a difficult time. Wanting to support her, I traveled to Orlando, Florida, to spend ten days helping with her new business and her life. But after about a week, I realized I wasn’t well—I didn’t have the energy or strength within myself to truly be there for her. As much as I had wanted to stay and help, I knew I needed help too. So, I made the difficult decision to leave and go home to rest.

Just before I left, my daughter said, “Mom, you should go to Hippocrates Wellness.” And I thought, A wise one, she is. So, I took her advice and booked a few weeks at Hippocrates.

What I gained was beyond my expectations. I had learned so much—so many healing modalities I had never even known existed! For the last five years, I have been on a personal journey of self-care, struggling through an incredibly challenging menopause experience.

Hormones are real, friends. They affect everything—how we feel, how we communicate, how we process life. And for years, I had felt stuck. I had searched everywhere— Eastern medicine, Western medicine—but I couldn’t find the healing I needed.

Then, at Hippocrates, I found my peace. I found my joy. I found my answers!

I no longer felt those aches and pains. My anxiety had disappeared. I felt strong, healthy, and resilient emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I had become stronger than I had ever been, and I left feeling ready for the next upgraded version of myself.

I owe so much to Hippocrates, the staff, the founders, the healers. There were so many reasons people came here, and now I understand why.

I didn’t just leave healthier; I left deeply educated and empowered in how to care for myself moving forward.

And this was not goodbye! I know I will be coming back to recharge, reboot, grow, and, of course, for that delicious, nutrient-packed green juice. I found a family at Hippocrates, a community of people who lifted each other up. We had inspired one another, and we knew we would be eating lots of microgreens for the rest of our lives!

Hippocrates has changed my life. It has given me life. And I am forever grateful.

If you or someone you love has felt lost, unsure of what to do, or maybe you do know but just can’t take that first step, Hippocrates has everything. Healing, growth, education—it’s all there. Just book your trip and watch the transformation begin.

I love this place. And I believe you will, too.

I had heard about the incredible transformations that have happened at Hippocrates, and I was eager to experience them firsthand.

THE RAW VEGAN REVELATION

One of the biggest surprises upon arriving was the organic, raw vegan diet. This was something I had never tried before. At first, I was skeptical. Creative Visualization.

A 2024 study shows that positive self-talk will enhance physical and mental gains in emotional regulation. Another study in 2018 shows a correlation between visualizations of one's desires and the manifestation of their results. Guests at Hippocrates Wellness use this effectively for healing purposes, weight management goals, and for gaining freedom from addictions.

Can we use visualization to bring happiness to our lives? Happiness is our birthright. When we are happy, we know that we are in alignment with the Universe; when we are not happy, it indicates that we need to do something to be in tune with the Universe. Simply recalling all the delightful experiences of the day can bring happiness to one's life. Visualizing happiness creatively can also make us happier because what we call happiness is our experience.

Hippocrates Wellness is a "Biohacking" Center in many ways: the guests here are making deliberate changes to their diet and lifestyle; they use techniques like diet, supplements, technology, mental methods, and spiritual practices to optimize health, cognitive function, longevity, and overall wellbeing in unconventional, non-harmful ways.

Antony, a Licensed Psychotherapist, and a Pastoral Counselor has worked with the Hippocrates Health Institute since 1994. Aligning with the unique needs of the Hippocrates guests, Antony has developed some effective therapeutic techniques that draw inspiration from Eastern and Western holistic healing traditions. His unique approach integrates the knowledge and experience related to the fields of psychology, social work, philosophy, theology, and ministry. Antony's work is consistent with the Hippocrates Life Transformation Program because he helps our guests to "detox" (mentally, letting go of the past) using Regression Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and then to nourish their minds and spirits with confidence using Deep Relaxation Techniques, Creative Visualizations, Guided Imagery Meditations, Hypnosis, and Affirmations. Creative Visualizations, Guided Imagery Meditations, Hypnosis, and Affirmations.

Depressed or Deep Rest?

Depression is not a new thing, but our collective view of it has changed over the years. Is it primarily a mind thing or a body thing? Or a spiritual thing? Is it a bad thing? What can we do about it? Here's a brief history of depression, and lastly, my take on it.

Hippocrates of 650 BC described the symptoms of what we today call depression as an imbalance of the four bodily fluids, or humors . More specifically, he described the condition as "fears and despondencies if they last a long time." He recognized the inner experience of depression and correlated it to bodily reality.

Other early practitioners used the term "melancholia" to describe those same symptoms and ascribed them more to "spiritual" things, recommending fasting, sacrifice, and atonement. Being that unhappy was deemed to be a curse of the gods and resulted from having done something to displease them. Depression, for them, had an external source.

Physicians in the Muslim world swung away from spiritual explanations when they linked the experience of melancholia with phrenitis, a state of bodily inflammation, emphasizing bodily reality as the cause.

In the Christian environment of medieval Europe, a malaise called acedia (sloth or absence of caring) was identified, involving a tendency of the will to low spirits and lethargy as typically linked to isolation. Monks were more prone to it. More emphasis on the inner life than on the physical.

Ironically, people suffering from this affliction were often deemed possessed and were locked away in dungeons.

17th-century English scholar Robert Burton, in his book The Anatomy of Melancholy, drew on numerous contemporary medical theories and his own experiences, suggesting that melancholy could be combatted with

a healthy diet, sufficient sleep, music, and "meaningful work," along with talking about the problem with a friend. Wasn't he modern! He definitely focused on personal, physical, and behavioral cures.

The term depression itself was derived from the Latin verb deprimere, meaning "to press down". It was used in 1665 by English author Richard Baker in Chronicle to refer to someone having "a great depression of spirit" and by English author Samuel Johnson in a similar sense in 1753. The term also came into use in physiology and economics. We still talk about a "depressed" immune system and The Great Depression, for example!

During the 18th century, the humoral theory of melancholia was increasingly challenged by mechanical and electrical explanations; references to dark and gloomy inner states gave way to ideas of "slowed circulation" and "depleted energy." The pendulum of body-mind kept swinging over the years, with different eras emphasizing one over the other.

Sigmond Freud likened the state of melancholia to grieving in his 1917 paper Mourning and Melancholia. He theorized that the loss of a valued relationship through death or a romantic breakup results in a downward spiral of depression through an unconscious, narcissistic

process he called the libidinal cathexis of the ego. We probably call that co-dependence these days. Breaking up is hard to do. I think it's odd that relationship loss was so central to his theory of depression. His view had no focus on the physical, and he offered "the talking cure." One cool thing he said that's worth pondering: Depression is anger turned inwards.

By the mid-20th century, other psychodynamic theories were proposed. Existential and humanistic theories represented a strong affirmation of individualism, postulating that depression was mainly the result of feelings of futility and meaninglessness, basically saying that depression was a result of a disempowered mindset or one of learned helplessness. Viktor Frankl, the therapist who was a concentration camp survivor, championed such a view.

Humanistic psychologists also argue that depression results from an incongruity between society and the individual's innate drive to self-actualize or to realize one's full potential. American humanistic psychologist Abraham Maslow theorized that depression is especially likely to arise when the world prevents or inhibits a sense of "richness" for the self-actualizer. Basically, he said that depression is a natural response to an unresponsive and anti-life society. He actually put a healthy frame around depression! As did therapist R.D. Laing, whose famous Kingsley Hall institution in the UK encouraged the view of depression as "an inner journey" to be fostered and not repressed.

Later in the 20th century, cognitive psychologists chimed in. Albert Ellis argued that depression stemmed from irrational "shoulds" and "musts," leading to inappropriate self-blame or self-pity in times of adversity. His therapy was aimed at challenging the cognitive conclusions that contribute to the down state of depression. His credo went like this: get your head on straight, and you'll snap out of the funk. As you think, so shall you feel. His view had a total focus on the mental, with no focus on the physical or spiritual. Soon after that, researchers theorized that depression was caused by a chemical imbalance in neurotransmitters in the brain, a theory based on observations made in the 1950s of the effects of reserpine and isoniazid in altering monoamine neurotransmitter levels and affecting depressive symptoms. This reductionistic view has taken over all of psychiatry and has removed the inner life from the picture entirely. It's not your fault, and there's nothing you can do; it's all just brain chemistry. Chill and take a pill.

All this history, with the pendulum swinging back and forth between mind, body, and spirit, still begs the question: which is it?

Here's what I think: each of us embodies a mind/body system within our human relationship and natural world ecosystems, wherein each occurrence in any area affects everything in other areas. The head bone is connected to the foot bone. Fix things here, and get benefits there. At Hippocrates, we subscribe to this sort of holistic view. Do your work at all levels. Super nutrify with real food, and super nurture the soul with real love. Feed the brain true clarity, get real in relationships, and find your tribe. Give nature a chance. Depression, like any ailment, is a symptom of the absence of these good things.

The ultimate biohacking when it comes to mental health is to get real, be honest, express and confess feelings, and connect with yourself and your people. Inject your system with what's true and purposeful, have integrity with it, and be kind. Depression often goes along with a futile struggle for love and fulfillment from the outside. Give up. Surrender. Let go. Be here now. Feel the love inside. Finally, undo being depressed and get deep rest. Andy Roman, RN, MS, LMHC

Andy has served as a mind/body psychotherapist at Hippocrates Wellness since December of 1990, using and teaching radical feelingcentered, body-focused awareness tools to help Hippocrates' guests discover the essence of their problems and arrive at solutions. He facilitates the ongoing Healing Circle therapy and support group on campus and created S.H.I.F.T (State of the Heart Integrative Feeling Therapy), simultaneously centering on body awareness, here-and-now encounters, cognitive coherence, and emotional charge.

Some Whales May Live to 150 –

Twice as Long as Previously Thought

Southern right whales may live up to 150 years, almost double their previously estimated 70-80-year lifespan, according to a new study in

Science Advances

Researchers found that over 10% of these whales live past 130 years, challenging long-standing assumptions. Similarly, North Atlantic right whales once thought to live 70 years, now average only 22 years, rarely reaching 50 due to human threats. Bowhead whales, however, remain the longest-lived, with some surpassing 200 years. Evidence includes stone harpoon tips from the mid-1800s found embedded in whales' blubber and protein analysis from their eye lenses.

Meet the ‘Woolly Devil’ –A Unique Sunflower Discovery

A newly discovered sunflower species in Texas’s Big Bend National Park defies expectations. Dubbed the “woolly devil,” this small, pale plant blends into its rocky surroundings, making it difficult to spot. “When we found it, we didn’t realize it was something new,” says Deb Manley, a park volunteer who first noticed the plant.

“I just figured it was another small annual that would be hard to identify.” Researchers determined the plant is so distinct that it required classification in its own genus, a rare occurrence.

“It was so unique that it actually needed to have its own genus,” says Isaac Lichter Marck, a daisy taxonomist at the California Academy of Sciences. The discovery was published in PhytoKeys in February.

Artificial Sweetener Erythritol Linked to Increased Blood Clot Risk

A widely used sugar substitute, erythritol, may heighten the risk of blood clot formation, potentially increasing cardiovascular complications, according to a study in Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology. Used since the 1990s in diet sodas, gum, and baked goods, erythritol is considered safe by the FDA. However, recent research suggests it may negatively impact heart health. Study participants who consumed erythritol showed significant changes in platelet activity, increasing the likelihood of clotting. “Erythritol increased the susceptibility of platelets for clotting,” says study co-author Stanley Hazen of Cleveland Clinic. “This aligns with prior data indicating cardiovascular risks.”

Annual

U.S. Dementia Cases

Projected to Reach 1 Million by 2060

Dementia cases in the U.S. are expected to rise sharply, with new research predicting one million new cases annually by 2060. A study published in Nature Medicine highlights a significant increase from the 514,000 cases estimated in 2020. Dementia, an umbrella term for multiple neurological disorders affecting memory and cognition, poses an increasing public health challenge. Researchers found that lifetime dementia risk is 42% after age 55, surging to 56%

“I knew the total lifetime risk would be higher than previous 20-year-old estimates,” says Josef Coresh, senior author and director of the Optimal Aging Institute at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “But I didn’t expect it to reach 42%."

New Exoplanets Discovered Around Barnard’s Star

Four newly discovered exoplanets, less than six light-years from Earth, confirm a longdebated astronomical theory. The planets were detected using the radial velocity method, which tracks the subtle gravitational wobble they cause in their host star’s motion. Each planet is much smaller than Earth, with masses ranging from 20% to 30% of our planet’s. “In recent years, instruments have achieved unprecedented precision in radial velocity measurements,” says astrophysicist

Ritvik Basant, lead author of a study in Astrophysical Journal Letters that confirms the exoplanets’ existence.

The Secret to Understanding Animal Consciousness May

Do animals experience consciousness? Research suggests emotions—such as joy—could provide key insights. Rats laugh, bees play, and turtles dance in anticipation of food. These behaviors suggest subjective experiences, a crucial factor in defining consciousness. “We focus on phenomenal consciousness—the idea that it feels like something says Jeff Sebo, director of the Center for Environmental and Animal Protection at NYU. Sebo, along with philosophers Kristin Andrews and Jonathan Birch, launched the New York Declaration on Animal Consciousness, signed by over 500 researchers worldwide in April 2024. The declaration supports the growing evidence that many nonhuman animals experience emotions, challenging long-held views on consciousness.

How Iguanas Traveled from North America to Fiji Millions of Years Ago

Genetic analysis has revealed that Fiji’s iguanas are most closely related to North American desert lizards, raising questions about their incredible journey across the Pacific. A study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA suggests these reptiles traveled over 5,000 miles in one of the longest oceanic dispersals known. Iguanas have long colonized islands in the Caribbean and Galápagos, but their presence in Fiji is far more mysterious. Scientists once speculated they arrived via land bridges from the ancient supercontinent Gondwana. However, the new findings support the theory that they floated on natural debris

“rafts” from North America, a journey that would have taken months.

GameChanging Visionary Loretta Ford Story:

In 1920, a little girl was born in New York City; her name was Loretta. Young ladies in her generation had few choices for work, but naturally, she instinctively gravitated toward caring for people. She became a nurse with a broad cross-section of experience before the Second World War and added to that during the war.

She recognized by the 1940s that although doctors were the “Lords of Health,” there was a growing awareness that nurses performed the vast majority of the work on patients in offices, hospitals, and in the field. She was proposing that nurses should go well beyond their limited directive in licensure and be able to perform as they do quite often what doctors do.

As you can probably imagine, there was a major kickback because physicians were very protective of their turf. “I have been kissed and kicked, revered and reviled, credited and crucified.”

She finally found an MD pediatric physician named Henry Silver, who aligned with her and put together an advanced curriculum to further educate nurses on how to perform many of the tasks that allopathic and osteopathic physicians have historically and professionally handled.

By 1965, the University of Colorado adopted this into its curriculum, and the first graduating class of nurse practitioners was accredited. Now, a half-century later, there are nearly 400,000 nurse practitioners in the USA alone and many others worldwide.

Ms. Ford was an extraordinary visionary who understood the need to expand medical care to a greater number of people. Thank God she was instinctually wise enough to see a future with this possibility. Since 2020, more than 20,000 doctors have quit, and now national polls state that 25% of those practicing today are no longer happy with their profession. With an aging population, we are coming to a critical juncture, and there will be a much greater need for nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

AI also adds a dimension to this that is quite interesting, whereas it is already making and increasingly will make many of the decisions physicians make today. Nurse practitioners will, in fact, be in a position to help to sign off on what acutely intelligent AI suggests.

As long ago as the 1960s, she said, “There was more than enough work to go around.” She was so enthusiastic and respected; she was honored with the highest level of accolades and awards from the medical field. She only recently passed away at the ripe young age of 104!

All too often, we forget to honor and respect those people who have made an extraordinary difference in our human condition.

Hippocrates Wellness has employed Nurse Practitioners over our seventy years of work and has found them to be highly resolute, competent, and enthusiastic practitioners.

Thank you, Loretta; we will never forget what you gave to the human race.

It’s all about When and what we eat

The cluster of neurons in the brain, the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), is the body's central timekeeper.

Its function is to ensure biological processes such as falling asleep occur at the optimal time. It is reset daily by light and darkness, a 24-hour cycle called the Circadian Rhythm.

It also coordinates appetite to ensure that we have adequate supplies of energy during the day and can get through a night's sleep without being awakened by hunger, giving us "peaks of hunger" during the day.

Your digestion, absorption, and metabolism are also coordinated by the SCN to be primed for action at the "peak" times.

So, all systems need to be in balance, but when we eat at any time, especially when we should be fasting—like late day and night—without this rest, we add pounds to our waistline and disease and premature aging to our life.

According to Olga Pivovarova-Ramich of the German Institute of Human Nutrition, Potsdam-rebuke, our "resting metabolic rate," the amount of energy our bodies use in the absence of exercise, calories consumed in the "biological night," is transformed into fat storage, rather than burned.

SCN is thrown out of whack by artificial lights, TV, computers, and cellphone screens, and it is shrinking the "Biological night." We are snacking more than ever; since 1970, 18% of our total calories have come from snacks, now estimated to be double.

Gabriel Baldanzi at Uppsala University Sweden and his colleagues analyzed data from more than 5.700 adults who took part in three studies in which stool samples were collected.

More than 1400 of the group had taken a course of antibiotics lasting less than two weeks, between four and eight years before they provided a stool sample.

The remaining participants had taken no antibiotics in the eight years before providing a sample. The people who had taken macrolides, used to treat skin and lung infections, had 56 fewer bacterial species in their gut on average four to eight years later compared with those who took no antibiotics. (Most people have at least several hundred bacterial species in their gut; losing 50 species could make them more vulnerable to infections).

People who took antibiotics called Cephalosporins, used for urinary tract infections and meningitis, had 43 fewer bacterial species in their gut—up to eight years later.

The same was true for those who took a course of Clindamycin for skin infections. This revealing research further confirms the long-term destruction that life killers (antibiotics) have on your immunity and brain. This hazard has now risen to one of the foremost reasons our current generation is as weak, sick, and confused as we are.

On the other hand, Kings College U.K. exposed that the quality of snacks, not the frequency or quantity, was associated with negative health outcomes. Poor quality cake, chips, etc., were worse compared to those who snacked on nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables. Late eating after 9 PM disrupts the circadian rhythm.

Diets high in fiber reduce risks of cancer and heart disease, etc. It is food for the microorganisms in our gut, creating our immune system and a healthy brain via the chemicals it produces.

“We cannot break down the fibers; they come from plant cell walls, but their role is as a prebiotic,” says Petra Louis University of Aberdeen, U.K.

Chemically, it is made up of long-chain carbohydrates. There are many types of fiber, and a 2023 review found that insoluble fibers were more effective than the soluble form in reducing the risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease.

“It is an ecosystem,” she says. "We know that a community of microorganisms, particularly bacteria, feed on fiber in the large intestine. Some bacteria can break down the long carbohydrate chains into smaller molecules that they and other microbes can digest. Others take those broken-down products and ferment them, producing

timing

short-chain fatty acids, such as butyrate, that nourish our gut wall, which benefits us in many ways."

Most people are eating a diet that triggers inflammation (sugar, meat, dairy, caffeine, alcohol). A chemically latent processed food and animal-type diet.

Most of our calories should be eaten earlier in the day. Intermittent fasting is a great practice by either fasting throughout the morning with lots of fluids or not eating the evening meal.

Eat organic, unprocessed, uncooked botanical foods like sprouted grains, nuts, seeds, beans, vegetables, and their preparations.

We are snacking more than ever; since 1970, 18% of our total calories have come from snacks, now estimated to be double!

A Cocktail of Contaminants in Water Is Damaging Your Health

Dr. Roy Speiser is vice president and co-founder of Clean Water Revival Inc. Speiser has over 35 years' experience in clinical practice and research developing advanced water filtration equipment.

LifeGive is defined by an innovative approach to help maintain a healthy immune system, focusing on creating the most effective plant-derived formulas to support your body.

In this time of Artificial Intelligence, illusion will be masterful in determining the outcome of multiple situations. For this reason, it would be wise to find your inner core and develop progressive methods to express your authentic self. The network mind of mathematical consciousness now supersedes the human mind. Ultimately, this can render human global connectivity that has the potential to abolish separation, segregation, and discord. Our species' turbulent past can be erased and replaced by a harmonious unity working for the good of all.

Our most advanced science will enable us to live long lives that must be filled with productive action. The foundational requirements for adding years go back to the origins of Homo sapiens. Our connection to the earth (MOTHER) will nourish us in ways we have not experienced for centuries. Cyclical rhythms of night and day, seasons, and empowerment from others within our community, combined with energetic plant nutrition, give us the fuel and awareness required to embrace longevity. Soon, Centenarians will be commonplace, and as generations blossom, we will have the ability to live perpetual lives.

Titanic shifts in our species are upon us, which can become an overwhelming reality or a gigantic opportunity.

It is not enough that we tinker with our biology. Still, we must tap into and Biohack the essence of the multiple universes and the “invisible library” of knowledge and wisdom. The wheel and cycle of life turn consistently throughout eternity, making available all information required at any given time in history. So far, humans have cherry-picked and pulled together data manifesting systems, institutions, dogma, philosophy, theology, and Hyperbole.

People stand at a threshold where established institutions will no longer be necessary since access to needed and required enlightenment will be at our fingertips. Many of you commonly use an AI app regularly, which nullifies your need to retain burdening data since it can be a stressor that squelches your spiritual instincts. Most creatures live seven times the length of their

maturity, and humans fall short of this because they live rhythmically with the earth and universal laws, creating a feathered-like existence rather than an oppressed reality. By following this social and cultural dogma that has been passed down generationally, we also carry the wounds of generational trauma. This must be addressed when we want to extend our lives.

My work since 1970 has been acutely focused on the technologies and methodologies that defuse these wounds and liberate the emotional body-afflicting and spirit-destroying effects that they have.

We face a big yet achievable task of becoming the humans we are supposed to be and guiding the world in the limitless garden of Eden. This was not a religious philosophy but a description of our early existence.

When releasing our responsibility to do the required inner work of raising instinct to applicable results, our minds begin to spark insecurity. This insecurity led to all schism and separation, which is the ultimate misstep that Homo sapiens allowed. Today’s science has determined and published the significance of community in achieving longevity. Until we fuse together the brokenness, we will not have the full opportunity to live long, happy, and healthy lives.

Hippocrates Wellness continues to pioneer future relevant practices that are clinically proven through our ongoing application here on our 55-acre campus. It is great to watch others now discussing these things as if they are new jewels recently discovered. Once the humble leaders in each scientific field relegate their current practices, procedures, and methods to the past, they will have the abundant ability to pursue them. The greatness that the universal, invisible library affords is the real science of the twenty-first century.

Recipes

A healthy, plantbased diet is one of the most effective ways to increase and sustain your body's natural energies.

Recipes curated by Chef Ken Blue & our Culinary Team

In line with this issue's Biohacking theme, we have carefully selected recipes that support liver health, as the liver plays a crucial role in filtering toxins from the bloodstream and regulating inflammation. Our chosen ingredients—chlorophyll, cruciferous vegetables, asparagus, turmeric, radishes, and almonds—are both seasonal and nourishing.

Additionally, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) emphasizes the importance of cultivating kindness and compassion for oneself and others. Practicing this philosophy, along with releasing negative emotions like anger, frustration, irritability, and resentment can further support liver function.

Green Juice

Ingredients:

1 to 1½ organic cucumbers or about 1 lb. (to get you about 6 oz)

2 stalks of organic celery (leaves and all) (to get you about 2 oz)

1 hefty handful of organic sunflower sprouts (to get you about 4 oz)

1 hefty handful of organic pea sprouts (to get you about 4 oz)

Chef's Note:

Method:

1. Process the ingredients through a juicer that has either a single auger or twin gears, which will be able to preserve the delicate phytonutrients.

2. Enjoy within 30 minutes for maximum nutrition.

We recommend drinking 16 ounces of this fresh green juice 2 times a day. At Hippocrates, we suggest adding Blue Green Algae or Spirulina 3 times per week for additional benefit. You can experiment with additional herbs and greens to make it your own. The general recipe is 50% vegetables and 50% sprouts.

Asparagus Hollandaise

Sauce Ingredients:

2 cups of soaked and rinsed pine nuts

2 ounces of fresh lemon juice

½ heaping teaspoon of ground turmeric

⅛-¼ teaspoon of green salt

A pinch of cayenne pepper (or to taste)

1 ounce of extra virgin olive oil

3 ounces of water

1½ teaspoon of Bragg Liquid Aminos

Marinade Ingredients:

1 ounce of fresh lemon juice

4 ounces of extra virgin olive oil or raw sesame oil

1 garlic clove

1 tablespoon of Herbs de Provence

⅛ teaspoon of green salt

1 pinch of cayenne (optional)

Chef's Note:

Other Ingredients:

½ bunch of asparagus, marinated

Method:

1. Lightly dress the asparagus with the “marinade.”

2. Place the asparagus on a paraflex sheet in the dehydrator at 110 F for 2-3 hours to give it a “cooked” look and texture.

3. Blend all sauce ingredients until creamy.

4. Pour sauce over asparagus and serve warm.

The dehydration should make it a vibrant bright green. Over-dehydrating will dull the color and make it stringy. The sauce can be used anywhere that traditional Hollandaise is used.
