THE COMMUNITY HOUSE HOLIDAY BALL Photography by Marco Nunez More than 450 area residents kicked off the holiday season in style at The Community House Holiday Ball on Dec. 5. This sold-out event transformed The Community House (TCH) into a sparkling, sophisticated and chic venue filled with an abundance of holiday spirit. Guests began the evening with a festive cocktail hour in Kettering Hall, as they perused and placed bids on more than 200 bottles of wine from exclusive vintages around the world. Always an anticipated event at the holiday ball, the silent wine auction helps support the many needed programs offered at TCH. The transformed venue sparkled in colorful palettes of deep purple and dazzling diamond as guests began a yearlong Diamond Jubilee celebrating TCH’s 75 years of service to the community. welcomed by TCH executive director Jenifer Fabian, who also praised the event cochairs (Julie and Jeff Akers, Abby and PJ Huizenga, and Becky and Phil Mavon) for their creative vision and gifts of their time and talents. Special thanks was extended to the Junior Board and many volunteers who helped make the evening sparkle. PJ Huizenga introduced the debut of a video produced by local resident Derek Chimenti, covering the history of The Community House, and the lives that are impacted by its work. The video also highlighted services and programs TCH offers, including recreation, social services, the Charlie’s Gift Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Willowbrook Corner and active adults More than $150,000 was raised to help support the non-profit’s communitybased mission.
