akshah housing

& co-living

SEMESTER VII ACADEMIC PROJECT

Akshah means axes

A rental housing project situated in the economic heart of Chembur. The idea of LIVE+WORK+PLAY is used in designing every block where the green spaces around the blocks bring people together. Individual spaces provide privacy to their own community, i.e., professionals, students and family. These three categories have their own way of living which is kept undisturbed in planning. As the project title Akshah suggests that the site is divided into two ‘axes’ which can be used as a division as well as the axes to synchronize. The axes also give emphasis on the different busy nodes of the site and provide access to every corner, leaving every edge noticeable by the people. Due to a defined access, the people feel welcomed into the public realm of an amphitheater and a casual setting in the center of the site

SEMESTER III ACADEMIC PROJECT

NYASTA means painted / illustrated

Designing an atelier for a paint artist in Karjat. I decided to design for late artist Amrita Sher-Gil. She was a bold, adventourous and deep woman who expressed her emotions very vividly through her paintings. Her personality fuels the concept of this project!

While reading the story I'm lost inside it, the crow looks like a magician, the sunlight looks colourful and all i can think about is what if the sky falls

Subah ki chai aur thandi hawaa, looking at the panchayat samiti from the window and the hustle of people early in the morning makes him smile

VIEW FROM MAIN ROAD

Children chirping, teens gossiping, everyone munching, spilling and laughing; I realised there is no other joy better than the joy of eating!

“These

I always feel like there is something so amazing about the combination of cold weather, fresh air, huge trees, lovely sunrise and happy sweat. Free Therapy ! plants sing, you know”, he started laughing while the leaves were dancing between the sunlight. I felt the cold numb my ears and while walking down to the discussion pit, warmth embraced me again.

DESIGNING ARTEFACTS FOR A LIVING ROOM
FEELINGS & EMOTIONS ARTEFACT SIGNIFYING VOID AS A FEELING IN ONE’S LIFE. LIFE BRINGS MANY SITUATIONS WHERE WE FEEL LIKE WE HAVE LOST THE PURPOSE OF LIVING, WE ONLY TEND TO EXIST. WE OFTEN EXPERIENCES THE FEELING OF FRIGHT OR PAIN OF LOSING SOMETHING WE LOVE. OUR MIND IS USUALLY IN A FRAGILE STATE, JUST ONE PUSH AWAY FROM SCATTERING BACK TOWARDS THE VOID WE ONCE FELT. IN EVERY STEP OF LIFE, ONE THING WE SHOULD NEVER LOSE IS HOPE.
