The catastrophic damage caused by the recent floods due to unprecedented rains in Kerala had made a call to the conscience of the nation. The Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI), Chennai, was at the forefront involving themselves in relief measures lending helping hand to the victims and trying to restore the beauty of God's own country. We collaboratively took various humanitarian initiatives under the banner Hindustan for Kerala (H4K) both in the form of material and monetary contributions. The Operation H4K was carried out relief consignments in three phases between 25 August and 25 September 2018 in Chengannur, Allappuzha, Thrissur, Kottayam, and Ranni, the major towns severely devastated by the flash floods. The unparalleled enthusiasm and dedications shown by students and faculty reflected in the voluntary services and substantial donations they made in the form of essential relief commodities. Around 50 lakhs rupees were spent on items such as nutritional consumptions, imperishable food comprising 5500 kg of rice, 1000 kg of dhal varieties, 200 kg of flour, biscuits; kitchenware essentials such as gas stoves, utensils, and dosa pans; over 1300 sanitizing wares and toiletries; blankets, towels, bed sheets, pillows and buckets; survival essentials including mosquito repellent, coils, candles, match boxes, first aid kits etc. H4K relief team also visited the flood ravaged colonies in the vicinity, expressed their solidarity with its victims, and extended helping hands.
