With only the freshest meats, seafood and vegetables available, Hugo’s continues an island tradition of elegance and fine dining in a casual and comfortable atmosphere. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dinner is served nightly from 4:30 p.m. until close. Sunday brunch is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s and Screwdrivers. Island Bagel Company makes its own New York-style boiled bagels in 16 flavors each morning. The island’s only bagel shop also offers signature cream cheese, fresh baked croissants, muffins, scones and Seattle’s Best coffee. The shop serves breakfast and lunch daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Catering and office delivery are available. Call-ins welcome.

Jamaica Joe’z (Menu, 23)

40 Folly Field Rd., Mid-island, 843-842-4402. American. Open from 1 pm to 4 pm on weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) throughout the fall, Jamaica Joe’z is just plain fun. It’s located just steps from the beach and adjacent to the island’s largest swimming pool and it’s a great place to simply relax with friends. As with all Hilton Head Island Beach and Tennis restaurants, Joe’z is open to the public. There’s a $5 charge for parking, but for your cash you get a voucher of equal value you can use at Jamaica Joe’s. It almost feels like a head start.

Jump & Phil’s Bar & Grill (Menu, 16)

Food is generously portioned, reasonably priced and utterly unpretentious. Menu items include two-fisted versions of BLTs, Cuban sandwiches, chili dogs, tuna melts, barbecued pork and burgers voted the island’s best in the Island Packet newspaper’s 2012 Readers’ Choice awards. Jump & Phil’s is “Hilton Head Island’s Green Bay Packers Headquarters,” with grilled brats on the patio for every game. Free Wi-Fi. Sunday brunch. Outdoor seating, kids menu, take-out and reservations available. Open daily, 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m.; bar open until about 1 a.m.
