Happy Hearts

Have A Heart Humane Society is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit charity that depends on donations and fundraisers for support. We have received a grant from Bank of the Sierra to spay and neuter pets owned by low income families. If you have a pet who needs altering and you can show proof of low income for 2010, please stop by Books & Crannies and fill out our form. We will pay 100% of the vet bill (spay/neuter and pain shot). You will also be required to care properly for the pet following its surgery. We are not liable for any injury or death as a result of the surgery. Our funds are limited so we are accepting pets on a first come, first serve basis. Adoption days are most Saturdays 10-2 at Books & Crannies. 661-750-2261 Email:haveaheart@bak.rr.com, Website:www.Haveahearthumanesociety.org

Dixie Dixie is a very pretty golden/sheltie (this is a guesstimate) cross, 1-2 years old. She’s an eventempered girl, calm at adoption day in spite of the chaos and friendly with all the strange dogs she meets. She’s medium size, 30-35 pounds and has medium length fur so she needs to be protected from fox tails and will also need grooming from time to time to keep her looking her best. Dixie is gentle and well-mannered. She will make an excellent family pet.

Chrissy’s Puppies Chrissy’s puppies love their puppy fun, following you, finding all new things in life around them and find even more trying to bring them to you to show you (usually your slippers, socks, torn newspapers)...they’re just so happy to share all with you bringing them to you with lotsa puppy kisses! Iggy This big, beautiful, black boy is Iggy. Iggy is a neutered half Boxer, half Labrador; and that is exactly how he appears. He is the perfect split of two of the best breeds. He is a Boxador (Lab and Boxer) with a docked tail, rotund chest, gorgeous coat with lab coloring, and just an overall well-tempered demeanor. Labradoodle’s may be the new, hip dog to have, but I see Boxador’s being a big hit in the near future. Iggy is a stray that was found in the Golden Hills area with no collar, no tags and having recently tangled with a skunk. Once I got passed the stench of him it was easy realize what a neat dog I had just rescued. He is about two years old (no more than that) and is the complete package: he’s very friendly but not overwhelming, has a beautiful coat but won’t shed much, he is a good sized dog but doesn’t weigh much, and he is as loyal as they come. He is great with other dogs and does extremely well with children. We took Iggy to the Pet Lodge for the royal treatment, which includes a de-skunking and vaccinations. He is wonderfully well-rounded dog that could really make a family proud. If you are interested in adopting Iggy, please contact Zach@661-972-3852, 821-1327 or visit Marleysmutts.com

This is Max. He is an easy boy that gets along with everyone. A bit shy at first, but affectionate once he knows you. He is about 3 years old. He is mostly outdoors. (neuter and shots up to date).

Moose Introducing Moose. This big boy about 80#’s was running loose in the bank parking lot, trying his best to hitch a ride with anyone who would let him in their car or truck. But there weren’t any takers so he got in the Have A Heart car, put his paw on the volunteer’s coke can and crushed it! For all his size Moose is very affectionate; he loves people. Also because of Moose’s size, we thought it best to help make him the best dog he can be, so we are have hired a trainer to work with him for the next two weeks. He is already crate-trained and is so so on a leash, which is great news. The trainer says that labs don’t mature until they are about 4 and we think Moose is between 1 and 2, which means he’s not going to be a couch potato for quite some time. Moose’s trainer says he is a great candidate for agility and Frisbee catching. Because he is so athletic, he will need some form of daily exercise. Even a treadmill will do. He rides well in a car but count on getting your face licked! Anyone considering Moose will need to continue his training either with the trainer or at home. The trainer will give the new owner a thorough lesson for continuing. Moose will also need a good size area to run and play and a sturdy fence. Moose is great with kids, but too big for toddlers. Please only consider Moose if you’re willing to continue his training and give him the exercise and affection he needs. Moose is not available for adoption until May 21st at which time he was also be neutered. His adoption fee is $250.
