Stress and Anxiety from Academic Pressure and How to Manage It:

For many students, getting good grades is a top priority, but sometimes this can come with a lot of stress and anxiety. I want to talk about how pressure often affects students’ mental health, and some strategies to help, since I think this is a really important topic.

Ifirstwanttoclarifywhenacademicstresscan turnintoanxiety.

Academicstressisanaturalresponseand somethingmostofusexperience.Unlikestress, whichisoftenlinkedtospecificeventsor deadlines,anxietycanpersistevenintheabsence ofanimmediatethreat.Noteveryonehas anxiety.Itinvolvestheconstantfeelingsofworry, tension,ordreadthatareassociatedwith academicsettingsortasksItcanpresent physically,mentallyandbehaviourally,andit’snot thesameforeveryone.Therearemanytypesof anxiety,butacademicanxietyisverycommonfor students.

Managing academic anxiety often involves specific actions to calm the mind and lessen excessive worry Depending on what a person is anxious about, the techniques will vary. But common ones are identifying negative thoughts, deep breathing, or mindfulness. Seeking professional support is also an option. When dealing with academic stress, here are some practical strategies:

Manage your time by dividing tasks into smaller parts and use planners or apps to prioritize assignments and study times Set realistic goals and avoid aiming for perfection; instead, set achievable goals and celebrate progress. Take regular breaks during study sessions and engage in relaxing activities like exercise, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones

Reach out to teachers, school counselors, or trusted adults for academic and emotional support. Talking about concerns can ease your stress and offer new perspectives.

For a number of students, getting good grades is a top priority, but many face stress and anxiety because of this. Understanding the differences between stress and anxiety and being aware of how to manage stress and anxiety symptoms is important. We all should be focusing on both mental and academic well-being, and by using practical strategies and seeking support when needed, we can all navigate this with confidence.

We’re lucky to have so many people here at school that we can talk to if we’re feeling stressed or anxious. Here’s a reminder of who they are: school counsellor, nurse, coaches, and teachers.

Passover, also known as Pesach, is one of the major Jewish holidays. It celebrates the freedom from slavery. We celebrate Passover to remember when the Jewish people were freed from being slaves in Egypt. The seder is a way to remember the story and be thankful for our freedom. The Passover Seder is a traditional Jewish meal where we eat special foods, sing songs, and read the Haggadah, which is the story of the departure.

During Passover and at the seder, we eat matzah, which is unleavened bread. Matzah is the “bread of affliction.” it is also the bread of freedom. When the Israelites left Egypt, they didn't have time for their bread to rise, so they ended up with matzah.

The Seder plate is a centrepiece of the Passover meal, it holds symbolic foods that represent key aspects of the story of Exodus. The Seder plate includes Matzah, roasted shank bone, roasted egg, bitter herbs, sweetened mixture and parsley.

Passover is a time to celebrate with our family. It is one of my favourite holidays, and I am looking forward to observing it again this year. I hope you all enjoyed learning about my family's traditions!

Challenge Bias: Speak up against stereotypes, discrimination, and microaggressions. Be willing to address bias when you encounter it, even if it's uncomfortable.

Create Inclusive Spaces: Make sure that physical and online spaces are welcoming to people of all backgrounds. It’s important to consider accessibility, safety, and representation.

Use Inclusive Language: Avoid using words that may exclude or offend others based on their gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, or other identities. Use gender-neutral language where possible (friends or folks instead of ladies/gentlemen or boys/girls).

Support Inclusive Policies: Ask for policies, rules, and educational materials that promote equity and inclusion in your school & community.

Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn about different cultures, identities, and experiences. This can help you understand diverse perspectives and challenges. The best way is by getting to know people from diverse backgrounds, but also learning from books, shows, music, and other media.

2SLGBTQIA+VOCAB

Gender non-conforming: people whose gender expression or behaviour does not conform to societal expectations about having been assigned “male” or “female” at birth

Androgynous: someone who has both masculine and feminine qualities in their appearance, style, or behaviour, or who identifies outside of traditional gender norms

Biromantic: Refers to individuals who are romantically attracted to people of two or more genders

Supporting queer artists is a fantastic way to uplift the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and by listening to their work, you can gain valuable insights and learn from their diverse experiences.

Shamir Bailey or Shamir is a queer artist from Las Vegas, Nevada He identifies as non-binary and prefers he/him or she/her Known his distinctive countertenor voice, Shamir gained fame for his genre-defying music that blends pop, rock, and electronic elements

But beyond music, Shamir is known for his openness about his identity as a non-binary person. His advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights has made him a respected figure in both the music industry and the queer community.

Shamir is a talented and amazing artist, and I highly recommend listening to him if you wish to help support the queer community through music.

A number that is even or a number whose last digit is an even number, i.e., 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8.

The sum of all the digits of the number should be divisible by 3.

The number formed by the last two digits of the number should be divisible by 4 or should be 00.

Numbers having 0 or 5 as their ones place digit.

A number that is divisible by both 2 and 3.

Subtracting twice the last digit of the number from the remaining digits gives a multiple of 7.

The number formed by the last three digits of the number should be divisible by 8 or should be 000.

The sum of all the digits of the number should be divisible by 9.

FLUTETIPS:PARTII

FINGER POSITION TO LEARN: EXERCISE TO TRY:

This is low B, the flute’s lowest note. Similar to low C, the tips for playing this note are:

Angle your air low towards the ground. Think of the vowel sound ‘AWWW’ as you play to create a nice ringing resonance Your aperture (the opening of your lips) size should be a bit larger than the higher registers, but still elliptical in shape. Overall, the embouchure should feel relaxed and not pinched.

After we have all been waiting a long time for Minecraft to make a movie out of their bestselling game, it finally happened! Although there were a few complaints about the decision to make the movie liveaction and the trailers were greatly made fun of (Chicken Jockey!), I believe that this movie was actually quite well made. It perfectly captures the feel of Minecraft, while adding a creative story and new ideas that complement the feel of the game

Many things that were not in the base game of Minecraft still felt like natural parts of the world, and many Easter eggs and references were well-placed in the movie. I was particularly happy when a pig with a crown walked by, and Steve (Jack Black) referred to it as a legend The story was sadly not as fleshed-out as I would have liked, but the sheer amount of charm and humour in

All About Shakespeare’s

Macbeth

Who is Macbeth?

Macbeth was the Scottish main character from one of Shakespeare’s tragedies.

Non-fictional Macbeth:

Fun fact:

Macbeth’s wife’s (Lady Macbeth) real name was Gruoch.

Macbeth was also a real person (King of Scotland in the 11 century) and not just from Shakespeare’s imagination. th

The Story

**SPOILER ALERT!**

The story of Macbeth starts in Scotland and is about Macbeth starting humble and kind with a low rank, Thane of Glamis. When a war breaks out between Scotland and Norway, Macbeth comes along and kills the Prince of Norway. After that, King Duncan of Scotland upgrades him to Thane of Cawdor because the other Thane of Cawdor had joined Norway’s side. Then Macbeth comes across three witches who foretell, “Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, then King hereafter.” So Macbeth thinks that King Duncan will make him his heir; instead, Duncan chooses his eldest son, Malcolm. Then, Macbeth is so eager to become the King that he kills King Duncan. So, in a nutshell, those are the main events that happen in Shakespeare’s Macbeth!

StickySummer Delight

Nature’s Age

The earth is covered in light showers

And ethereal, misty sprays

Sunlight peeks through the canopies

Reflecting Nature’s Age

Leaves swaying on the trees

A birdsong floating through the air

Soft and sweet, yet wild and free

Singing without care

Flowers sprout in the soil

Their petals fluttering with ease

The cold weather recoils

Bringing in a fresh, spring breeze

A faraway river noisily bubbles

Through valleys deep and wide

The whispering wind gently stumbles

To chase the rolling tide

ring season is finally here ith petals soft and bright

yful spirit rings loud and clear eneath the morning light.

A Short Story

It had been a cold winter, the coldest one for a while Many people were starving due to the lack of food, or they were freezing after unsuccessful hunting trips.

One young girl, Luna, sat in her cave thinking to herself, “If only there were a way to create warmth ”

Although the tribe had discovered ways of making warm clothing recently and knew that staying in their caves would slightly protect them from the cold, they had not yet found a suitable way to hunt. Without being able to hunt, the tribe could not find food Although the tribe did try to hunt, their few attempts had been unsuccessful, and sometimes the tribe members would freeze in the process. After trying various things, Luna gave up

“There may be no way to create warmth,” she thought.

Luna went to the back of the cave, where many of the other tribe members lived. She grabbed her flint knife and started playing around with it

She moved it from hand to hand and still thought about the terrible weather outside She grabbed a stick and started scraping the knife against it. “What could I use th--” Her thoughts were cut short when a strange orange feather burst out of the stick. It danced like a butterfly and slowly moved down the stick A few of the other tribe members around her stared in awe at what she had created. Suddenly, Luna realized something. “This glowing orange thing creates warmth!” shouted Luna to the rest of the tribe.

Most of the tribe came rushing over, and Luna explained how to create the warmth Soon, everyone ran around carrying sticks with dancing orange feathers on them.

“What will we name it?” asked one person. Luna thought for a second.

“We shall call it Fire!” she exclaimed Soon, the long winter became much more bearable with Luna’s discovery of fire.

The tribe later learned the many properties of fire, how to extend fire’s life, and even how to cook using fire Thanks to the discoveries of one little girl, the tribe was saved from the cold of many winters to come.

CHOCOLATE-GLAZED BROWNIE CUPCAKES

Serves : 12

Prep Time : 25 Mins

Ingredients:

Steps for Cooking:

Cook Time : 25 Mins

10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature, cut into small pieces

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (not Dutch process)

3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, finely chopped

2/3 cup boiling water

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon fine salt

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

2/3 cup finely chopped toasted walnuts or semisweet chocolate chips, optional Chocolate Glaze :

1 cup chopped semisweet chocolate (not chips)

1/2 cup heavy cream

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line one 12-cup standard muffin tin with paper cupcake liners.

Put the butter, cocoa powder and unsweetened chocolate in a large bowl. Pour over the boiling water and let stand 5 minutes. Whisk until smooth, and then whisk in the sugar, vanilla and eggs. Whisk in the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda until just combined. Stir in the walnuts or chocolate chips if using. Divide the batter among the prepared liners so they are about three-quarters full. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs, 22 to 24 minutes. Cool in the tins 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack. For the chocolate glaze:

Put the semisweet chocolate in a medium bowl. Heat the cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just simmers. Pour the cream over the chocolate and let sit for 1 minute, then gently stir until smooth and glossy. Cool the glaze slightly until thickened but not hard. Spread 1 tablespoon of glaze on top of each cupcake or dip the tops of the cupcakes into the glaze.
