t Aloe Skin and Body, the licensed estheticians and massage therapists focus on overall wellness, with skin care that combines the latest technology with high quality organic skin care products, and massage therapies for relaxation and relief from a number of stress-induced and physical ailments. Skin care has always interested Tracy Bethel, owner of Aloe spas in Austin and, more recently, in Wimberley. “From the time I was very young, I loved going to the grocery store and looking at the different masks,” Tracy says, “or buying food to make my own completely natural masks.” After Tracy earned her MS in Communication Disorders, she worked as a speech pathologist and moved around quite a bit (Washington DC, Boston, Denver), but she never lost her early interest in skin care and was always “looking into programs to become an esthetician.” “When my family and I moved to

Austin, and I knew that we were likely going to stay put for a while, I decided one day to just do it,” Tracy says. “It was a crazy time in our lives, with a oneyear-old daughter and three-year-old son, but I just had this feeling that there was never going to be an easy time.” Tracy began her new career by renting a room with another esthetician for a few days a week for about six months before opening her own business in her See ALOE, page 29
