HillMath HillMath is a research-based methodology designed to remediate and differentiate instruction for struggling learners with and without diagnosed learning differences who are operating at a K-5 level. This 2-day virtual workshop provides teachers and support staff with strategies to develop conceptual understanding of math concepts and differentiate instruction for each learner. It provides teachers insight as to the structure of the HillMath components and actual tasks and resources teachers can implement during their math block. HillMath components include: Fluency, Number Sense, Review, Problem Solving, Curriculum, and Reflection. Participants will further explore math talk moves and ways to build number sense through number talks and games. In addition, teachers will learn how to support students’ success in solving word problems. HillMath shows teachers how to expose students to a variety of problem types and how to use and interpret student work to better meet the needs of each individual learner. This workshop is grounded in how to facilitate meaningful math discussion.
