The concept for renovating the previous Marcel’s building goes beyond mere restoration; it’s about nurturing a sense of community within its walls and throughout the surrounding neighborhood by bringing people into the town of Franklin Nebraska. I envision a transformation that not only honors the building’s rich history but also serves as a catalyst for social connection and growth within the community.
The 2-bedroom floor plan is carefully crafted to support community and connection. Its open-concept layout and spacious island create a welcoming environment for hosting friends and family, promoting an easy flow for conversation and gatherings. The clerestory windows enhance the ambiance by filling the space with natural light, making it feel warm and inviting for guests. These design elements work together to foster a lively, social atmosphere.
The Marcel’s Building had an original wainscoting wall intact that will be restored to honor the building’s history and unique character of the building’s past.
Kay’s Coffee Shop is a charming, two-level coffee shop spanning 100 square feet in a rural community. Designed as a warm and inviting gathering space, it offers seating for both large groups and smaller parties of one or two. It’s an ideal spot for hosting Bible studies, playing games, enjoying a good book, or connecting with friends.
Kay’s Coffee shop is a third place meant for community members to gather and spend quality time with friends or a good book. The atmosphere was curated to invite guests to stay and enjoy the ambiance of coffee, pasteries, and fresh picked flowers.
NEXT Creative Advertising Agency is expanding its footprint with a new 16,000 sq. ft. office in Chicago. This space aims to embody the innovative spirit of NEXT while integrating brand partnerships with HOKA, Alani Nu, Olipop, and Chickfil-A. The office will be a hub for creativity, collaboration, and employee engagement, encouraging staff to work on-site while promoting productivity and connectivity.
Color theory plays a crucial role in shaping how people interact with spaces and products, influencing both mood and productivity. Hoka, Olipop, Alani Nu, and Chick-fil-A—use color in their branding to appeal to specific emotional and psychological responses from consumers, often aligning with their focus on health, vitality, and performance.

This section incorporates a jogged cut to emphasize each of the colored zones.
Within the workstations on the left, various shades of orange were incorporated to inspire creativity, boost energy, and enhance productivity. Workstations with taller walls were designed to provide focused, heads-down workspaces, while nearby collaboration zones were included to facilitate teamwork and group discussions.
The cafe features two distinct ceiling details: colored baffles that match those in the reception area and a felt square grid system. It offers seating to accommodate every employee at NEXT and includes two TVs displaying advertisements. Pops of color, seen throughout the entire office, are also incorporated here, tying all the colors together cohesively.
For my NEXT project, the wildcard space is a screening room designed for viewing advertisements, tailored specifically for a global media advertising agency. This room serves both clients and employees, with a key feature being its intentional privacy. The only entrances are through the client presentation room and an employee-only area, creating an exclusive and confidential atmosphere.
