BULLETIN DEADLINE MONDAY JUNE 8th 2020 “LEST WE FORGET” Remembered but not forgotten. HIKURANGI RSA & DISTRICTS ANZAC DAY NEWS Well, how this virus has changed everything! No Poppy Day and no Anzac Day Parade. On Anzac Day we held a small ceremony in remembrance of the people that gave their lives in World War 1 and World War 2 and also remembered those who gave their lives in subsequent wars. Thank you to James Morris our Piper, who started all this and Betty Fyfe for leading the service. The Last Post was played and a couple of wreaths were laid. Thank you to Tafale Maddren for organising these. After that James played the Lament and the service was concluded. It was very nice and there were 10 people present. The disappointing part was that when we were going to raise the flag at the School Memorial, we found that a person or persons unknown cut our lariation (rope) from the flag pole and stolen it. How low can you be?

Thank you to the people who got up and stood at their gates at 6am. You could hear the Last Post being played here and there. Thank you to the people who had poppies on their fences and decorations in the windows etc. Lets hope we have a better celebration next year. In the meantime please stay safe. Linda Vanstone, Secretary
