Updates From FP Sporting Stars Zander Fagerson, Class of 2012

Eilish McColgan, Class of 2008

Five months after breaking his leg against the Cheetahs in South Africa in September 2018, Zander finally made his long-awaited return to Glasgow Warriors in February. He was also announced as a replacement in Scotland’s game against France in the 2019 Six Nations Championship. Off the field, Zander and his wife Yasmine welcomed a baby daughter into the world in May.

Olympic middle-distance athlete, Eilish, sprinted her way to success in June after she broke the Scottish 5000m record at a track meeting in Holland, clocking an incredible time of 14:47:94. At the World Championships in August, Eilish secured her place in the GB team after winning gold in the women’s 5000m, having led from start to finish. Eilish finished her season off in perfect form in October by not only winning the Great South Run but also by breaking her mother, Liz’s, Scottish record of 52 minutes, which has remained unbeaten for 22 years. Finishing the race in an outstanding time of 51.36, Eilish is now second on the British all-time list behind Paula Radcliffe.

Charlie Guest, Class of 2011

Alasdair Dickinson, Class of 2001

It was a very successful end to 2018 / 19’s winter sports season for Charlie. At the start of March, she came 1st in the Women’s Slalom National Championships in Slovakia with an outstanding overall time of 1:40.48 over the course of two runs. Not one to be shy of podium places, Charlie came 2nd in the Women’s Slalom European Cup, also in Slovakia, and was awarded an incredible 1st place whilst in Folgaria competing in the European Cup.

The Scottish Rugby Union internationalist announced his retirement from the sport earlier this year. However, Alasdair has confirmed that he won’t be waving goodbye to the rugby pitches just yet as he agreed to take up a coaching position with the Scottish Rugby Academy, specialising in the scrum and contact area.

Sandy Mitchell, Class of 2018

Mark Beaumont, Class of 2001

Endurance racer, Sandy, made his US motor debut earlier this year at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North American Championship. Sandy managed to secure a superb 3rd place finish in the opening race driving the No. 1 Prestige Performance Huracán.

Record-breaking, long-distance cyclist Mark has had an extremely busy 2019 pedalling across the country to raise funds for several UK-based charities. In April, Mark, joined by 30 avid cyclists, travelled 265 miles from Tayside to the Highlands and back down to Grampian to raise funds for The Archie Foundation, a Dundee based charity that focuses on making a difference for local sick children. At the end of June, Mark jumped back onto his saddle again and rode 333km from central London to Bristol for The Ollie Foundation and THET Links.
