WATER MONITORS FOCUS ON EDUCATION Water monitors are out in the community this summer to talk with residents about efficient outdoor watering practices. Their focus is education. Water monitors hit the streets all hours of the day and are on the lookout for customers who may be running sprinklers during the middle of the day; or they may spy a broken sprinkler head, resulting in water flowing down the gutter. Water monitors seek out opportunities to educate customers about Centennial Water’s rules and regulations for best watering practices. 1. Outdoor irrigation is not allowed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., May 1 through Sept. 30. 2. Hand watering trees and shrubs is allowed anytime if a hose is held and equipped with a shut off device. 3. Wasteful water practices are prohibited and may result in a fine. Examples include neglecting to repair leaks, or allowing excess water to flow into street gutters.
Earlier this spring, the Centennial Water service area declared a Drought Watch. Monitor updated conditions at centennialwater.org/drought.
