Highlands hopes festival goers experience a ‘return to nature’ kind of feeling. In encouraging this connection with the land, we acknowledge we are on the stolen lands of the Algonquin and Anishinabewaki nations As we gather here this weekend, just before National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, let us reflect on our shared responsibility to respect and support Indigenous communities, and commit ourselves to fostering a more just and equitable relationship with the land and its original stewards

THE STORY

Welcome to Highlands Music Festival! We started this festival during the pandemic with a simple idea: bring music talent and music lovers together in nature for a truly special experience.

Since 1970, and set in Ontario’s beautiful Haliburton Highlands on the native land of Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin) Anishinabewaki territory, Camp Walden has hosted hundreds of children each year for recreational summer programs. With 750 acres including its beautiful 100 acre private lake, 50 rustic camper cabins, a vaulting Dining Hall, dozens of natural gathering spaces and trails, and (happily) only intermittent cell service, Walden is aptly named and a haven just 3 hours away from Toronto, and 2 from Ottawa

Founded by its 9-person Co-Creator-Team, Highlands is a three-night Indie Folk Music getaway celebrating the musical talent of many youthful Folk (and Folk’ish!) performances on its 3 stage setup at Walden.

Camp-style meals and basic accommodations are provided as part of the one-price-fits-all ticket format The weekend is, by design, meant to be an intimate gathering of music lovers looking to reconnect with the outdoors, with community, and with the healing power of the arts.

Highlands is the only Canadian all-inclusive folk music festival of its kind

… an experience created to be an inclusive, warm, and welcoming space where everyone can connect through music

Highlands is an open invitation to unplug from everyday life, become immersed in the beautiful surroundings, and in the healing power of the arts.

We encourage everyone to let the music set the tone for having a good time during this festival.

We are committed to making this a memorable weekend for festivalgoers, the artists and our staff

We’re thrilled you're here and cannot wait for you to experience our third annual Highlands Music Festival!
