A level & GCSE Teacher Assessed Grades update - July 2021
Following the completion of all final assessments in May, teachers worked together to determine holistic grades which best reflected the standards students had attained in each subject. All Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) were quality assured internally, signed off and submitted ahead of the national deadline of 18 June.

We are now in a national external quality assurance process, along with all other exam centres. This involves one of the exam boards looking at a sample of work from a number of students in a range of subjects. If validated the overall grades proposed by school will provide fair and honest recognition of the hard work of students, staff and families through the past two years, and in particular through the pandemic. As in any year there will inevitably be some individual disappointments along with pleasant surprises.
We look forward to giving students their A level results on 10 August 2021 and GCSE results on 12 August 2021 and supporting them in moving on to the next stages of their education.

School crossing patrol – Church Street, Starkholmes
We are pleased to let you know that from Monday 12 July, Derbyshire County Council has confirmed there will be a School Crossing Patrol on duty at the crossing site outside Duke William/St Giles Church.
Reminder: changes to the arrangements for the last day of term on 21 July
Further to our recent correspondence we would like to remind families that school will close for the start of the summer holiday at 2pm on Wednesday 21 July.
After such a momentous year we feel it is important to spend some time with staff on the last day of term to recognise those leaving us this year and have amended the school timetable accordingly. This will allow staff time to say goodbye and recognise the enormous contribution of the following colleagues who are moving on to new opportunities – Mrs Turner, Mrs Serjeant, Mr Redhead, Mr Crawford, Mr Thoday, Miss Hamrouge, Ms McDonald, Mrs Amir and Mr Walton.
Students will be based at their usual site and able to wear non-uniform on the day for a £1 contribution. Normal lessons will continue for periods 1 and 2 followed by a whole school quiz/activities during periods 3 and 4 with the winning class announced at the end of the day. Burgers, sausages (including vegetarian option) and chips will be served for lunch in the canteen.
