British Kin-Ball Association

Year 10 core PE students were visited by British Kin-Ball Association on Wednesday 19 May and today, Friday 21 May. For those of you who are not familiar with this activity, Kin-Ball is a team sport originating from Quebec.

The main distinctive characteristics, as you will see, is the size of the ball (1.22 meters in diameter) and that the matches are played among three teams at the same time instead of traditional one-vs-one like most of the team games. Kin-Ball is a new introduction to PE at Highfields and students thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Primary school sports

Mr Molyneux and Mrs Allen visited Darley Churchtown Primary School on Thursday to deliver an afternoon of kwik cricket.

Win a session of tennis coaching with Tim Henman!

The Tim Henman Foundation (https://www.henmanfoundation.org/) is currently running the #FindingYourSpark campaign, which aims to grow their work nationally and help more young people explore their passion in sports, science and engineering.

As part of the campaign the Foundation is running an exciting competition to win a session of tennis coaching with Tim Henman on 23 June at The Hurlingham Club followed by lunch with Tim! The lucky winner will also receive a signed Lacoste package and a signed racquet. The competition will run from 3 May – 28 May and anyone can apply!

To enter this exciting competition all you have to do is fill out the entry form on the link below and create a video (no longer than 3 minutes) explaining a moment where you found your spark. It doesn’t have to be in sports or science – it can be in anything you enjoy.

You might want to consider the following questions in recording your video:  How did you feel when you found your spark?  What inspired you to pursue this passion?  Has anything held you back along the way?  What might it inspire you to do next?

If you are under the age of 16, please be advised that you will need parental permission to enter the competition.

To send your videos, please follow these steps:

Add in the ‘Send To’ box our campaign email: sparks@henmanfoundation.org 5. Add in your email to the ‘Send From’ box 6. Please add to the text box a note confirming that you give consent to share this video to our social media channels (note that consent to share media is not a requirement of entry to the competition). 7. Send!

Please include your name, age and address. The winner will be announced on 4 June!
