The emerging trend of hanging lights, chandeliers, and lampshades twinkle in the darker afternoons. According to Vogue, 2020 weddings are more about atmosphere and vibe, using details like the colour of the cutlery and the texture of tablecloths to create this ontrend wedding.

PHOTOGRAPHER: VERITY FROM VERITY WESTCOTT PHOTOGRAPHY Make sure your photographer is the right one for you. I should start with the fact that I am not a traditional photographer and these are only my musings! You will hang out with them ALL day; from the beginning to the end, they will be with you!

An experienced photographer can cover your day without the need for a shot list. You can trust them to cover all the details and to document your story, so you need not worry about them.

If you do want family formals, I would always suggest to keep it to a minimum - guests at weddings like to have fun, you want to have fun, and not stand around in one place smiling for a traditional group shot. Keep it small and quick. Don’t feel pushed into traditional shots like the awkward mock cake cutting or signing the register if you don’t want to do it.

And feed your photographer! As I mentioned earlier they can be with you all day and most of the night, so be sure they have fuel to keep going. It’s a small thing that is very much appreciated.

MARQUEE TONYA FROM ABSOLUTE CANVAS For a marquee, all you need is a field which is fairly level and has good access; we can arrange for toilets, generators, water, etc to be brought to the site. Nothing is impossible! We like to hear your ideas and designs and work with you.

When does the marquee go up?

We like to have all our marquees up by Thursday, giving you all day on Friday to put your final stamp and finishing touches to your marquee.

We take down our marquees on Sundays and Mondays allowing you time to remove all your personal items.

Certain styles of dresses can be altered by a seamstress i.e. an internal bra strap around your back can be added to give you the feeling of security if you’re wearing a strapless gown. Good fitting underwear will make a massive difference to any outfit, so make sure you get measured properly at a lingerie store. You want to feel incredible in your dress, so good underwear is as important as wearing makeup! If you feel good on the inside you feel amazing on the outside.

STYLING: REBECCA FROM THE UNIQUE CORNISH EVENT COMPANY Creating the style and vibe for your wedding doesn’t have to be overwhelming. If you’ve booked your venue then start there.

Is it a barn where rustic charm would suit or a coastal marquee where soft blue and green tones would work beautifully. If you’ve not chosen a venue yet then think about how you both are as a couple. Do you love music and festivals or do you love more romantic glamour.

Use Pinterest, have one board where you pin anything and everything you love on it, then revisit it and start to hone it down.

If you notice a theme starting to come through then go with it.

Also don’t be afraid to use other sources for inspiration, like colour swatches from Farrow & Ball when walking round a hardware store.

Take inspiration from the world around you and be true to you. Trends come and go, remember you want to look back on your photos fondly, not cringing because you chose the Pantone Colour of the Year that you never really liked.

This is a question that couples often ask us – and as Independent Celebrants we are happy to oblige!

Registration Services may offer some choices but they are not usually able to offer the range of personalisation that a Celebrant can, and if you opt for a religious service the marriage service for that religion will be used, with choices for hymns and readings.

There are so many options to help make your ceremony feel that it is about you, from choosing to write your own vows, opting for readings and involving your guests, but we find the inclusion of a ritual – something visual for all to see – is the one thing that adds the “wow” factor to your wedding cornishcelebrants.co.uk

HAVING A RITUAL MAY SOUND A LITTLE BIT ‘LEFT FIELD’ TO YOU, SO LET ME EXPLAIN SOME OF THEM – AND MOST CELEBRANTS ARE HAPPY TO ADAPT EVERY ONE OF THEM TO SUIT YOU. HERE ARE SOME OF THE FAVOURITE ONES:

TIE THE KNOT This is such a fun ritual! Two cords representing the two people in the marriage are joined with fisherman’s knots; the cords are pulled and the knots come together, the harder the couple pull, the more secure the knot becomes – a real visual metaphor for marriage! This ritual can be adapted to include children; it works especially well for a blended family and becomes a visual representation of the new family being created.

SAND CEREMONY It is very powerful visually as a couple take it in turns to pour sand from their respective containers into a joint vase, resulting in layers of colour being formed. In Cornwall we often add a starting layer of sand from the couple’s favourite beach to ground them in their marriage to a happy place.

Children, friends and guests can be asked to add sand if wished to include them. The resulting vase is full of layers of coloured sand, which can never again be separated into its constituent colours.

UNITY CANDLE We ask a family member from each side to light a candle. With two candles lit, we then ask each of the couple to light a taper from their respective family candles and then light together a third candle representing the light from their two families uniting into a new family. Some couples buy personalised candles with their names and date of wedding for the central candle as a keepsake.

HANDFASTING In many countries, cultures and religions the hands of the couple were bound together as a sign of their marriage. Handfasting is often described as an ancient Celtic rite and can range from a simple symbolic tying of the hands with cords, ribbons or wrap whilst you say your vows to each other to a more involved form of rite.

QUAICH (LOVING CUP) The use of the quaich or loving cup symbolises the coming together of the couple and the trust between them.

The cup can be filled with your favourite drink – or a combination of two! – then take it turns to offer the cup to each other and take a drink until the cup is empty. This idea can be extended to the wider family, but if children involved it’s probably best to use soft drinks rather than alcohol!

RING BLESSING A wonderful way to include all your guests.

The ring is passed amongst your guests at the beginning of your ceremony, so that everyone has the opportunity to hold the ring and imbue it with love and blessings for your wedding.

So take the plunge, be creative with your Celebrant and discuss what you can do to make your ceremony one to remember for both you and your guests, and if none of these rituals work for you – make up one of your own!! silverlinings.co.uk

HERE’S SOME TIPS ON DECIDING YOUR GUEST LIST AND AVOIDING THE STRESS! UNDERSTAND YOUR GOALS Use your budget and venue capacity as guides to help you set a realistic figure. If you already have an idea on catering, this will have the most impact on your budget (after your venue) so deciding if you want elaborate 4-course fine dining or street food served from vans is important from the outset.

DETERMINE YOUR IMPORTANT GUESTS When you start building your list, put down everyone who you couldn’t have a wedding without them there, from family members to old school buddies. Just for this part, take your budget and venue out of the equation. You may have to trim later but for now, this is a good starting point.

MANAGE YOUR FAMILY’S EXPECTATIONS Sometimes couples feel pressured into inviting certain friends of their parents or distant relatives because they are not entirely footing the bill themselves. If you accept any generous contributions to your wedding fund, determine if there are strings attached ahead of time.

Have an honest discussion with your parents/ in-laws/grandparents/etc. to see if their financial assistance comes with any requirements (or even any subtle “hopes”) about the guests, the venue, or other wedding details.

THE NUMBER OF GUESTS WILL AFFECT YOUR BUDGET Each guest affects a large number of elements of your wedding, from the number of plates your caterer will prepare, to place settings needed, to stationery items, to favors, and even to how much cake you’ll need. It’s much better to keep your number on the conservative side; avoid over inviting as you’ll be holding your breath every time you open an RSVP. If there’s room in the budget or you end up having more space than you thought you would, add later on.

CREATE YOUR ‘CUTTING’ RULES When it comes to trimming the guest list, decide on how you’ll decide on who makes the list and stick to the rules. Don’t be put off of also creating an A List and a B List which you can then refer back to when RSVPs start coming in.

1. I f neither of you has spoken to or met them or heard their name before, don’t invite them.

2. If neither of you has spoken to them in three years, don’t invite them.

3. If there’s anyone who’s on the list because you feel guilty about leaving them off, don’t invite them.

CONSIDER AN ‘ADULTS ONLY’ WEDDING Deciding whether to invite children will probably come down to a pure budgetary or venue space decision. If the money isn’t there, you may want to go with an adults-only event.

A wedding can be a great reason to encourage guests to get a sitter, leave the kids at home, dress up and enjoy a day out with your spouse!

This is a kind way to let people know that this isn’t a whole family affair, plus, it makes it a fun occasion for them!

PICK A DESTINATION AWAY FROM YOUR HOMETOWN If you find that you are still struggling to manage your guest list and have a certain number to stay below, consider choosing a venue that requires a little more effort to get to. Picking a venue an hour or two out of the way, guests are required to put a little more effort into attending. People who truly want to be there will make the effort.

But now savvy couples have realised a good wedding planner can actually help them instead of taking over, and is definitely something to consider.

I may be hearing some of you say “Why would I hire a wedding planner when I can do it myself�; this is a fair point! Experienced wedding planners have experience in all aspects of wedding planning, from helping couples set up realistic wedding budgets to pulling together the logistics on how the wedding day will run.

From photography to catering and flowers to the music playlist, wedding planners keep you organized while lessening your stress and relieving your time. But most importantly they know how to avoid the mistakes of planning a wedding and can manage the risks that all big days will experience.

What Does A Wedding Planner Actually Do? Hiring a professional planner is a little bit like having a bridal personal assistant on hand throughout your engagement.

Reading contracts, completing booking forms, chasing guests that haven’t RSVP’d, creating schedules and then assisting with the set-up and clear-down.

A planner can carry out a vast array of tasks that are a little tedious, a tad boring and incredibly time-consuming.

The result?..... You to catch up on Netflix rather than spending your evenings doing ‘wedmin’.

Most importantly we are there on the day to ensure everything goes to plan. Normally the on the day coordination falls to the Best Man, Chief Bridesmaid or a family member. These people are not often professional organisers and invariably find the task significantly more demanding than they had imagined. They also want to enjoy the day and celebrate with you - they are your closest friends and family after all and you certainly don’t want them dealing with the various issues that can arise on your wedding day.

Don’t wedding planners cost a lot of money?

From browsing through wedding magazines and reading blogs you begin to realise just how many hours go into organising a wedding.

It’s estimated it takes couples 250-300 hours to organise a wedding – a lot more if its a marquee wedding. Understanding that hiring a professional wedding planner is not an additional expense. If you think about it, your wedding day will most probably be the biggest and most expensive party you will ever host. But this party isn’t a straightforward dinner party. This is a party stretching over a full day that may have multiple locations, potentially hundreds

If you have a dedicated contact at your venue, that’s fabulous news and they should be able to take a lot of the timeconsuming aspects away from you. I’ve had the delight of working with some simply amazing venue coordinators, worth their weight in gold a hundred times over. All I’d say is: bear in mind standards differ and that ultimately, they work for the venue, not for you, and will by definition have to put the interests of their employer first.

If you’d prefer a more relaxed approach to your wedding, one that’s fun and informal, then a festival themed wedding may be the one for you.

Many couples are opting for a full weekend of celebrations and what better than the feel good vibes of a festival to bring a group together.

Without question you’ll be hunting for an outside venue – one which allows tents, yurts or tipis. For an authentic festival experience, onsite camping or glamping is a must. Afterall, stumbling across a field at the end of the party and falling into your tent is a Glastonbury rite of passage!

HAVE FUN AND GET CREATIVE You can really ramp up the festival vibe by bringing lots of colour, creativity and live music. Your budget may not stretch to lots of bands but musically talented friends or family may want to contribute to a relaxed Sunday afternoon acoustic set.

You can do away with the formal three course dinners and sparkly tiaras and opt for street food vendors and D.I.Y flower crowns. Whatever your personality you can really inject it into your own mini “wed-fest” and create an event everyone will remember.

SET THE TONE Many people have preconceived ideas of what a wedding “should” be like. A festival does away with convention but it may be wise to get your guests on board with your theme. Try to supply all the information they will need when sending the invites. Suggestions on suitable footwear or extra layers of clothing may be helpful.

If you’re planning a two day event then your guests will require more notice to book holiday and plan accordingly.

WEIGH IT UP There’s no denying that stretching the party plans will also stretch the budget. You may need to feed people for two days or at least make arrangements for catering to be made available.

Toilet and generator hire firms often charge for a 24 hour basis so it’s worth researching any additional hire costs for extended use.

Portable shower units are also a welcome option for wedding guests. Do thorough research of your venue shortlist and check they’ll allow a full 2 day event including live music and the sale of alcohol. If guests are staying, a venue with an early music cut off or neighbours close by may be too restrictive for your plans.

We loved the TV series and now we have another chance to get our Downton Abbey fix with the release of the movie. There are lots of reasons for loving Downton but one of them surely has to be the stunning vintage style, period settings and gorgeous costumes.

We’ve also been lucky to watch a number of weddings over the years – from Anna & Mr Bates’s simple registry office ceremony, Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes opting for a traditional village celebration to the full-scale society wedding of Lady Mary Crawley.

First of all, of course, you’ll need a magnificent country pile. Pencarrow is a Georgian house still lived in by the Molesworth family and it has a number of spaces that are licenced for weddings including the Drawing Room or Music Room inside or the Arbour outside. Once the formalities are over, the wedding party can celebrate in a Raj-style marquee in the grounds.

Other incredible country house wedding venues in Cornwall include Pentillie Castle in the Tamar Valley, the Caerhays Castle & Estate overlooking Porthluney Bay or Tredudwell Manor near Fowey.

The food and drink you choose to serve to your guests is a great way of emphasising your chosen theme.

You could simply create a menu that includes timeless classics or even opt for a luxury banquet that includes ingredients such as game to really give your day an aristocratic air. Cocktails such as Mimosa and Sidecar were invented in the ‘20s and you could serve them to your guests before the breakfast.

One of the great things about a Downtonthemed vintage wedding is it’s a great prompt to go plastic-free and use natural materials throughout your wedding.

From flower petal confetti to natural foliage decorations, table settings, wedding stationery and even gifts on your wedding list, it’s a great way to bring vintage style bang up to date. Cornish florists such as Gorse & Thorn, Blew Flowers or Sweet Pea Floral Studio will help you create stunning arrangements. The Unique Cornish Event Company will take your theme and style every aspect of your wedding to fit in with it.

Include your wedding transport in your theme and pick classic vehicles or even a horse drawn carriage to get you to your venue.

Speak to local suppliers about the vehicle options they can offer, and you might find yourself travelling to your wedding in a vintage Rolls-Royce or your wedding guests being conveyed in an old-style charabanc.

Can you give a little overview of how you came to be a bridal designer?

I grew up in Swansea, South Wales and came to London when I was eighteen years old to study first at Central St. Martins, and then The Royal College of Art for my MA in Fashion. Fashion was in my family and I would be the third generation to work in this field.

My knitwear always leaned towards occasion dressing and so it wasn’t long before I started adding beaded evening gowns to the collection.

Just under seven years ago when Andrea Cutts and I started working together, we wanted to create a stunning, new Bridal collection. I had known Andrea for many years and had always admired her individual style and marketing skills in the fashion business.

We both felt that Bridal dresses were not catering to the modern bride who is far more aware of fashion trends and has developed a personal style long before she is ready to choose her wedding gown. So, we took two dozen of our most glamorous evening gowns and remade them in ivory to show at the Harrogate Fair. All the dresses were hand beaded and made in less than five weeks. Our stand was mobbed and “Eliza Jane Howell” was reborn.

W hat w e r e the inspir ations f or your l atest col l ection?

It is always the most recent collection that sticks in my mind and that I am most proud of. So, this would be our 2020 collection aptly named “The Roaring Twenties”! The 1920s was a decade of decadence, travel, high fashion and glamour after the austerity of the First World War. We are hoping that the 2020’s will also be the dawn of a “New Age”.

Do you usually design with a particular type of bride in mind?

An Eliza Jane Howell bride can be a woman of any age and any size. She is usually confident with her own style, fashionable and knows that she doesn’t want a traditional wedding dress. We think of our gowns as modern vintage and an heirloom to pass on to the next generation.

What is the process around designing a new collection?

I can’t give away my secrets but I create all of my gowns from scratch.

I design the beading patterns, choose the beads and accessories, sketch the artwork for the fabric and the shape of the new gown. There are many stages in the creation of a new wedding dress.

What do you feel sets your brand apart?

What makes Eliza Jane Howell so special is that our dresses are made one dress at a time and completely beaded by hand.

None of our dresses are mass produced.

What part of the design process do you enjoy most?

What I enjoy seeing most are when the first samples start to come through and I see my designs come to life.

do you have a favourite design from the current ‘The roaring twenties’ collection?

The Lexington dress is my favourite design. The dress features more modern contemporary beading with a fluid sequin skirt.

Having watched your wonderful videos of the dresses being meticulously embroidered and beaded in India, what is special or important about the craftsmanship there?

It is a privilege to work with such skilled artisans in India. It’s an Eliza Jane Howell dress that keeps the ancient techniques alive and we know that the hand beading skills will be passed on to the next generation.

What would be your top tip to a bride choosing her wedding gown?

I would advise any bride to shop for her dress with only one other person who they trust and go with her gut reaction and be confident with her choice. It’s a big mistake to involve too many opinions And when you’re not immersed in the wedding world, what else do you enjoy doing?

When I’m not designing I love cooking, running round the London parks which clears my head and helps with new ideas, reading, and my two Siamese cats keep me grounded.

Real weddings

We chose The Cow Shed because not only is it so close to all our family (we’re both from Cornwall but moved to South Wales in 2014), it gave us the perfect amount of guests to keep it local, Cornish and quaint. It’s stunning without adding extra fluff, all I needed to do was personalise and add the flowers of my choice!

And it held its own, with such pretty flowers across the gardens and, with it being May, they were in full bloom which gave such lush colour to all our pictures.

Her pictures just screamed at me ‘you need this woman’! I loved her work; so candid and natural, they drew both Lloyd and I in instantly.

When we first spoke to her I knew we would get on well. That’s one thing I looked for was a photographer I clicked with and Verity made the day so easy. She takes so many photographs you’re spoilt for choice.

BRIDE’S DRESS This was my 3rd choice! I realised that price isn’t everything and you can find exactly what you want on the high street for a fraction of the price and still look flawless. I needed to feel like a bride but comfortable enough to bust out some serious dance moves! I’m not the girl to sit and sip drinks all night, I’m on that dance floor ASAP!

HAIR I have known Rhia for years; she’s kind and considerate, listened to every idea I had and adapted to any changes I made. She did a bride, 3 bridesmaids, a flower girl, mother of the bride, my sister in just a couple hours!

MAKEUP Laura has many years of experience and is always refreshing her skills to keep up with the ever changing world of makeup. She gave me two trials as I didn’t feel 100% on my first choice. Laura was very patient and made us all feel super at ease on the day.

BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES I needed an outfit to fit all body types, something they felt comfortable in, and a colour to compliment the venue and flowers. I settled on a jumpsuit - they’re practical, they can be worn again, and they’re a little different! They caught the sun on the day beautifully and each of my bridesmaids pulled it off in their own perfect way.

SUITS These were a little more on the expensive side (actually Lloyd’s suit cost more than my dress!) but it didn’t matter as Lloyd felt on top of the world that day - I could have melted seeing him in that suit! Lloyd and his best man Alex bought from them from Hawkes in Cardiff where we currently live. It was easier to have it close to home because of fittings.

CATERING Food was a big one as we wanted a menu that filled everyone’s belly, was easy, and didn’t mean a seating plan! We did canapés to start followed by a beautiful hog roast and amazing buffet! We were able to do our own welcome drinks and afterwards the venue’s own bar, which is so quirky and cool, kept everyone topped up!

FLOWERS My florist was recommended to me by my venue. Judith knows the venue and what flowers would compliment without viewing it.

I sent her examples and together we came up with some arrangements which turned out beautifully!

ENTERTAINMENT I tracked down a local singer whose voice just sounded so lush I knew he would fit in perfectly! Jay was able to recreate my favourite Maroon 5 song ‘Sugar’ to walk down the aisle, then continued the party through the afternoon before the evening guests arrived when he ramped it to match the mood!

We arranged for a DJ to arrive later in the evening and take the evening into full swing.

I sent Matthew a list of songs I had requested from guests to keep them involved and he was able to incorporate them into his set.

SPECIAL DETAILS My sister Jen presented the ceremony as I wanted something non religious, personal and someone to help us feel more at ease. Lloyd and I were legally married a few days before in a Registry Office in Truro. Jen did the most amazing job and I couldn’t be prouder of her! My father made a backdrop for me as I created a photo booth using Instax Instant Picture camera. My wonderful Granny made my favours - homemade Cornish jam from the berries out of her own garden!

We chose The Cape Cornwall Club, close to St. Just, as it has a strong family connection for us - Martin grew up there and we have a house there. The venue offers stunning views and we think the Cornish Coast is just a fantastic setting of natural beauty. We both love the sea so wanted a wedding with sea vistas. Special thanks to Leanne and Andy at Cape Cornwall Club - they had only just taken over the club and really went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic time. I can’t recommend them enough. The Club is perfectly placed as a setting of outstanding natural beauty and they should be a first choice venue for Cornish weddings.

I wanted a custom made wedding dress and chose Ann Wallwork as she is in Truro. I wanted to use as many people from Cornwall as possible. Ann also made the 2 dresses for the younger girls, Ellen and Daisy, although they weren’t bridesmaids as such. Martin’s daughter Ysobelle’s blue dress was made in Vietnam as she had just been on holiday there, and was blue to match the theme. We wanted a very casual summer party feel to the wedding. So no suits. Martin opted for tailor made blue trousers, white shirt and a waistcoat all tailor made in Hong Kong, where we live. The silk for the waistcoat is from Liberty of London.

I bought items from Etsy such as bunting and for the place names on each table, we used a mixture of drift wood or sea glass with guests names on them. Each table was designated a nautical flag to represent the letter of our hashtag that people could add to photos on Instagram. We thought numbers on tables seemed too formal and the nautical flags painted onto blocks on the tables added to the nautical theme in a subtle way.

Memorable moment for me was walking up the aisle to see Martin.

After that, it all sort of went quickly and was a buzz of happiness.

We also added antique silver tealight holders and there were small china lanterns in the hall in pale blue, grey and white which was a small nod to our home here in Hong Kong. Blue paper napkins were personalised with our names and the date, and had starfish or fish on them, were in cocktail size, dinner size for the sit down meal and luncheon size for the Cornish pasties that were sewed in the late evening whilst the band

were playing. For us, our wedding was most memorable for being relaxed and fun. I think the ceremony was friendly and moving; you could really feel all the love from family and friends. We gave each of our grown up children a part to play as we appreciated their love and support of our long term relationship and it was they who really encouraged us to marry and throw a celebration.

TOP TIP Get yourself a wedding planner! It meant we could totally relax whilst everything just happened around us making it truly the best day ever.

We are both born and bred in Cornwall and very aware of all the beautiful venues we have here. We then saw Scorrier House advertised on Facebook, we loved the fact that you could have the whole day there, including the ceremony, wedding breakfast, party and that there was room for both our families to stay!

We loved how grand the venue and the entrance was and how beautiful the orangery is - perfect for our lovely photos by Brian.

We chose a silver & white colour theme - despite being a winter wedding close to Christmas we really wanted a magical vibe rather than tinsel and Christmas trees. Scorrier House were even kind enough to not put up their family tree until the day after the wedding!

We really wanted a semi naked cake, which Emz Cakes created perfectly and it was delicious.

Wild Heather Flowers is a family friend who is a wonderful florist. She understood our simple yet classical brief, with beautiful white tulips as centerpieces and an amazing floral display cascading down the stunning staircase.

Rebecca from the Unique Cornish Event Company met Abi also through Abi’s work, when Rebecca said she would be honoured to work with us we were happy that she had a great deal of experience to guide us through our day.

Abi looked after Brian’s daughter at Fit N Fun Nursery where Abi is a Nursery Manager.

She knew Brian Robinson was a respected photographer and had seen his wonderful weddings and work at The Eden Sessions. He is also a very relaxed guy that made us feel like he would be great to work with.

Rebecca recommended DJ In Cornwall and we couldn’t have been happier, Stuart knew exactly what we wanted and kept the dancefloor full all night!

We were made to feel so welcome by Gemma at Brides To Be Falmouth and the array of beautiful dresses meant Abi was able to find her perfect dress easily.

Phil had always wanted to have the ceremony at Mawla Chapel, a beautiful little chapel in the middle of a quiet little village local to his family farm. His mum and dad and his nan and gran-dad had all married there so it meant a lot to Phil to also marry there.

“Revd. Carole Holmes married us, we had a couple of meetings with her and she was so lovely. She made me feel at ease as soon as I met her, I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to marry us. We also wanted to have our dog, Bailey, at the wedding and there was no problem having him in the chapel during the ceremony. He sat with our friends and was good as gold. Everyone loved having him there.”

When Kellie and Phil started thinking about their wedding reception they considered a marquee in one of the fields at Phil’s family farm. After looking into it further they decided an actual venue would probably be best. Kellie and Phil loved the look of Gwel-an-Mor, for them, it was exactly what we were looking for. A beautiful venue with a very relaxed vibe.

Real weddings Kellie handmade all the day invitations and the orders of service. Phil cut wooden rounds from a large tree branch for the table decorations, Kellie wrote the table names onto each and her mum then burnt the writing into the wood.

The look was finished off with a milk bottle with gerberas and gypsophila and a tea light.

The guests each had a name card and a favour of either jelly beans or mints in a small Kilner jar.

For the food Kellie and Phil decided on a buffet rather than a sit-down meal; they wanted a chilled out day and thought a buffet was more in keeping with that.

“We gave Lucy and her chef the brief of ‘Boxing Day Tea’, which is one of Phil’s favourite meals. I cannot even express how amazing the meal turned out, all of our guests commented on how good it was.”

They didn’t really have a theme as such but it turned out a little bit rustic. The bridesmaids were in navy so the chair ties were navy and Kellie’s bouquet was made up of many different bright colours.

“I love doing arts and crafts and luckily my mum is very talented and artistic so we got her involved in lots of decorations.”

“ We also had a polaroid guest book which turned out really well.”

“Our wedding cake was made by Phil’s talented mum. It was a three-tier fruit cake, with white icing and a navy blue ribbon around each tier. She handmade gerbera flowers to go onto the cake, not only did it look amazing but it tasted it too.”

“I honestly think our favourite part of the day was just looking around seeing all of our family and friends together enjoying themselves. It meant so much to us to have so many people join us celebrating our special day. Our family and friends mean so much to us so to have them all together with us was amazing.”

Advice to other couples: -d o what you want to do. Don’t worry about what others want you to have it’s your day. There are certain things you have to compromise on for family so for the rest of the day have what want you. If you want a buffet rather than a sit-down meal, have it.

- t ry to be organised, it makes the run-up to the day a lot easier. I put all the items for the table into separate bags and when it came to setting up the day before it only took us an hour to do everything which meant the rest of the day I could relax.

In the blossom café you will be spoilt for choice as our wonderful caterers are covering everything from thai cuisine to vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

Barista Coffee and snacks will also be served along with a varied selection of cocktails, prosecco and wine bars.

Choosing the perfect dress could not be easier with our roaming catwalks offering you the opportunity to talk to the models wearing the gowns and also the boutiques supplying them.
