BONO'S ACTING DEBUT

BONO HAS FINALLY FOUND WHAT HE’S LOOKING FOR
U2 frontman Bono has taken on his first movie acting role – and it’s something of a surprise choice. The singer plays a lion in animated film Sing 2. But, in common with the pop star, the lion character, Clay, is a famous veteran singer-songwriter. Although he was first choice for the part, the makers of Sing 2 feared they would struggle to persuade Bono to accept the role. Instead he instantly responded to the idea of playing a character who has left the spotlight while grieving the loss of a loved one.
BONO HAS FINALLY FOUND WHAT HE’S LOOKING FOR

It turns out that he was looking for a meaningful, emotional and impactful part like this if he was every going to break into movies.

Bono explained: “That’s the whole point of these animations, you use these fun characters to play with deeper, darker themes. Kids and their parents watch them again and again. Much more than movies which win Oscars, they become part of our consciousness. They help shape the way we see things.” Other stars joining Bono in the voice cast of Sing 2 include Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon.
