We are Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, where students pursue their passions and are challenged to reach their full potential.

Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School boasts an impressive pedestrian-friendly Quad surrounded by state-of-the-art STEM & Humanities buildings, a stand-alone Primary School, Lower School, Middle School and Upper School facilities. It is punctuated with a spectacular Fine Arts and Performance space, two modern gymnasiums and four expansive athletic fields.

This is The 805, the educational home to 1,395 students in grades PK3-12.

What does it mean to be an Episcopal school?

HIES is the nation’s largest Episcopal parish day school and the only PK3 through 12th-grade Episcopal school in Georgia. We are a Christian school that serves a diverse community of faculty, staff, students and their families. All are welcomed and affirmed here, no matter your faith tradition. At HIES, we are steeped in the Episcopal intellectual tradition of academic excellence, ethical and servant leadership, global awareness and creating well-rounded intellectual adventurers.

WE WELCOME

We welcome all students, of varying faith traditions. HIES is a place where the full spectrum of God’s presence in the world and in our lives is explored, deepened and celebrated. We affirm the gifts, faith traditions and backgrounds of all HIES students.

WE LISTEN

We encourage students to listen to the views, the hearts and the actions of others. We are a community of explorers drawing on curiosity, critical thinking and reason.

WE LEARN

We learn to think widely, deeply and boldly and to intellectually engage with the world and our roles in it. As an Episcopal school, we believe that learning is a critical and life-long skill we wish to instill in all.

WE LOVE

We believe God calls us to love. We are called to be a family based in love. HIES has 10+ faith traditions and Christian denominations represented.

WE WORSHIP

We gather as a community, students, faculty and staff in weekly chapel services and beyond that affirm both our Christian traditions and religious diversity. We celebrate values that unite rather than divide and we nurture the ethical and moral lives of all involved.

WE SERVE

We ask each student, “How will you impact the world? How will you strive for justice and peace among all people, recognize and respect the dignity of every human being?” We build change agents of all ages to serve others and transform the world.

I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for my experiences at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. My teachers were such a powerful, positive influence on me. They played a huge part in helping me realize what I wanted to do. They continue to be a big influence on my life to this day. -LAURIE SEGALL ‘04, AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST

It is challenging, engaging and exciting for all our growing intellectual adventurers.

Creating Global Citizens

Middle School Sixth-Eighth Grades

The Middle School experience offers all students a relevant, innovative and globally competitive education. Our Middle School faculty understand and are passionate about middle schoolers and know how best to inspire them. Through our college prep and honors classes, we challenge students’ creativity and intellect in new ways and from new perspectives to form deeper connections to the world around us.

Experiential Learning

We believe learning should happen inside and outside of the classroom. The PEAK Institute’s eighth-grade class, Sports Marketing and Event Promotions, allows students real-world experiences. Throughout middle school, students engage in overnight retreats, white water rafting and team-building activities to bolster students’ enthusiasm for learning and becoming change agents and leaders in society.

We take the time to cultivate meaningful and purpose-driven relationships with students, nurturing and building their passions, fueling their curiosity, emboldening their creativity and expanding their disciplinary knowledge and skills, all while allowing them to feel safe and supported in the context of new intellectual and social challenges. -DR. Upper School Ninth-12th Grades

In an Upper School with offerings more typical of a college, the ways to success are many. At HIES, individual and community success is part of the plan. When a student arrives in Upper School, we meet with the family to create a four-year plan. We talk about passions and goals. We talk about academic challenges and enriching activities. And with guidance and support, we position each student to carve their own path to success!

Advanced Placement Classes

The Upper School offers 28 Advanced Placement Classes, 41 Honors Courses and four postAdvanced Placement classes from which to choose.

In the Upper School, we want to provide students challenges that give them opportunities to grow — whether that’s in the classroom, on stage, in the art room or on the athletic field. -MANNING WEIR, UPPER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
