Our multi-million-pound upgrade is finally underway and there is a significant amount of progress to update you on.

We have now officially closed for the upgrade with the last aircrete blocks manufactured with the old equipment coming off the line on December 21st. The plant itself is now 25-yearsold and many of our current employees will remember it being built.

That exertion took its toll however and from its pristine origins the factory has grown tired and a bit frayed around the edges. It’s safe to say that everyone involved with the factory is keen to see the new plant installed, especially those working tirelessly on the upgrade, who cannot wait to see the result of their hard work.

Those visiting our sites will have noticed that during the upgrade. to be delivered to site of equipment is anticipated

Engineering and maintenance teams are now on site, seven days a week, until the plant is back in production and our production teams (the team that works the equipment) will be on site to help and train as we move forward. from them has been instrumental in ensuring that the new plant and its machinery will take on the challenge of the next 25 years.

stock levels are currently higher than normal for this time of year. This is because both the Pollington factories and B.G. have been working closely together building stocks in preparation for the upgrade works, ensuring our commitment to maintaining continuity of supply to our customers during this busy period. All of this work could not have been undertaken without the help and support of every single operational member working at H+H.

On Thursday October 26, the first shipment of equipment made it safely into the yard at B.G. awaiting installation. This was the first of what we anticipate to be 100 lorry loads of equipment delivered to site during the upgrade.

Our very own engineers and production staff were given the opportunity to visit the WEHRHAHN factory, confirming that everything has been checked and checked again prior to delivery to the UK. These teams have been heavily involved in the work throughout the whole process and have invested a great deal of personal time and effort to make sure the upgrade runs to plan.

Enhancements to Health & Safety

During November we began to see our new machinery trickle onto site in B.G. having been successfully stress tested by the engineers at WEHRHAHN. This factory acceptance testing, conducted in Germany where the equipment is being produced, put our new plant machinery through the rigours of a working factory, with 24-hour cycling and weight loading which has ensured that every piece is fit for purpose.

With such a big operation taking place on our site, we expect an influx of contractors and staff to the site, each playing his or her role in the upgrade process. Considering this, we have implemented new Health and Safety rules which all personnel visiting our site will be expected to adhere to. By the time you receive this Newsletter every member of BG staff should have attended the on-site Health & Safety briefing, highlighting how essential it is that our teams work safely together. Our collective target is to achieve a Zero Harm project; after all safety is everyone’s responsibility. The most obvious is the new gate / barrier system that has been installed and can be witnessed upon arrival at B.G. where everyone entering or leaving the premises must present their credentials to be on site.

Full steam ahead It’s a new year and a new beginning at H+H Borough Green. More than a year’s worth of careful planning is finally coming to fruition as we begin to break ground on the factory upgrade.

In this edition of our InSite newsletter we look at the final preparations made in 2017 as the new machinery touched down at B.G. We will focus on the milestones made and those still to come as well as taking a look at the enhancements to our Health and Safety regulations which will be in place for the duration of the upgrade. As you all know, this is a great step forward for H+H in the UK. The commitment shown from

our parent company in Denmark, as well as the support we have been given from everyone involved with the upgrade process here in the UK, has meant that we are well on track to successfully deliver this project to schedule. With machinery from WEHRHAHN being steadily delivered at the end of 2017 and into 2018, the anticipation at H+H couldn’t be higher.
