Philos Hospitality CPA and Bookkeeper Jessie Cooper DuBois Leadership Award

Each year, the Philos Hospitality Board of Trustees recognizes the outstanding work of an individual serving as either a trustee, advisory board member, or committee leader through the Jessie Cooper DuBois Servant Leadership Award.

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34

Jessie Cooper DuBois lived her life with this biblical mindset; love one another It didn’t matter their age, their circumstances, their beliefs, or backgrounds. Friend or Stranger, the answer was always the same: show love.

A teacher for more than 40 years, she made a lasting impact on hundreds of children’s lives by showing love. She showed love in her community by serving others in her church, in the local 4H program, at the local hospital and in local nursing homes. Her life was about taking care of those around her, putting others first, practicing Servant Leadership

A Servant Leader focuses on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong, puts the needs of others first, enriches the lives of individuals and ultimately creates a more just and caring world.

2022's award recipient has been serving Hospitality House since 2004, the year Hospitality House was incorporated! We are grateful for the many years of service from this faithful volunteer to our Finance Committee and many other roles she has excelled in. Her dedication to the mission is extraordinary. She is no stranger to family caregiving. Over the past several years, she drove 3 hours weekly to provide caregiving for her aging mother while at the same time managing her full-time career, family, and her volunteer commitments. Her service to the board keeps us balanced, compliant, informed, and accountable. For her 17 years of service in helping us provide a home away from home for families caring for loved ones, we are happy to present the Jessie Cooper DuBois Servant Leadership Award to Philos Hospitality’s CPA and Bookkeeper, Keri Akers!
