---------------------------------------------------------------Anger Management Friday, January 27, 2012 10:00am – 12:00pm Room - 250 Often times, children with disabilities have a difficult time identifying their emotions and controlling their impulses. This workshop will provide the participants with information on how to teach their child to identify and regulate their emotions. We will review proactive impulse control strategies and parents will learn how to identify appropriate strategies for their child.

Adaptive Daily Living Skills Monday, February 6, 2012 10:00am Room - 250 This training will provide participants with relevant skills for children to learn based on their age in order to improve quality of life and independence.

Participants will learn how to incorporate teaching independent skills into daily life at home. Strategies and prompting will be reviewed. Participants will have the opportunity to develop a teaching program for their child with guidance.

Behavior Support Plans I: Functional Assessment Tuesday, March 6, 2012 10:00am Room - 250 This two-part training will break down the process of developing behavior support plans from functional assessment through maintenance of a behavior support plan.

In Part I, participants will learn various methods for assessing behaviors, taking baseline and analyzing the data needed to develop a plan.

Behavior Support Plans II: Developing a Behavior Plan Thursday, March 22, 2012 10:00am Room 250 The second part of this training will continue the process of developing a behavior support plan. Data from the functional assessment process drives the development of strategies that make up an effective behavior support plan. Each component of a behavior support plan will be covered in-depth. Participants will have the opportunity for question and answer regarding both parts of the training.

---------------------------------------------------------------Planning For Transitions to Middle School and High School Thursday, April 19, 2012 10:00am Room 250 This training will provide participants with helpful tips and strategies for preparing children to move from elementary to middle school or middle school to high school.

Participants will learn what changes to expect and how to get their children ready in plenty of time for the first day of school.

Planning For Summer Activities Wednesday, May 2, 2012 10:00am Room 250 Summer brings plenty of opportunities for social outings, trips to the community and time with family and friends. Being well-prepared for these events will help to ensure a safe, successful and enjoyable experience for children on the spectrum.

Participants will learn how to plan for various events from short play dates to a trip on an airplane. Safety training will also be covered.

Effective Prompting Strategies Tuesday, May 22, 2012 10:00am Room 250 Effective prompting strategies are crucial in skill development across all areas from academic tasks to social skills and daily living skills. Participants will learn to how choose, implement and fade prompts based on the skill they aim to teach.

---------------------------------------------------------------USING VISUAL SUPPORTS Wednesday, June 6, 2012 10 am Room 250 Many students with autism benefit from the use of visual supports throughout the day. Visual supports eliminate the need for repeated verbal prompts and make support easier to fade. This training will provide participants with strategies on how to develop, implement and fade visual supports across a variety of situations.

Activity Schedules Tuesday, June 12, 2012 10:00am Room 250 Activity schedules can be a useful tool for children with autism during many different activities, from planning leisure time to completing the morning routine and scheduling a trip into the community. This training will provide participants with strategies for making and using schedules for children with varying needs and abilities. Strategies from the task analysis, visual support and prompting trainings will be incorporated into this training
