---------------------------------------------------------------Welcome to HHH Wednesday, September 28, 2011 10:00am Room - 202 Welcome to the Half Hollow Hills special education program. This workshop will provide the participants with important information regarding the autism programs offered in Half Hollow Hills. The participants will learn the components of various settings. There will be an opened discussion with time to answer questions from the participants.

Discrete Trial Teaching Wednesday, October 19, 2011 4:00pm Room - 208 Participants in this training will learn basic concepts of discrete trial teaching. Skills and strategies will be developed and examples given.

Task Analysis / Behavior Chains Tuesday, October 25, 2011 10:00 am Room - 250 This training will provide parents with valuable information on how to use task analysis strategies to teach complex skills to their child. Participants will learn how to break complex skills down into smaller teachable units. In addition, effectively prompting strategies will be provided to assist parent in teaching to independence. This workshop will be hands-on. Participants should come prepared with skills they would like to develop using task analysis.

Toilet Training Wednesday, November 2, 2011 4:00pm Room - 250 This training will provide families with skills and strategies for implementing successful toilet training programs within the home. Resources will be provided for parents to use at home.

---------------------------------------------------------------Writing / Using Social Stories Wednesday, November 16, 2011 10:00am Room - 250 Social Stories are effective tools for teaching appropriate social behaviors in various settings. This workshop will teach parents the important components of a social story and how to use them. Parents will have the opportunity to develop a social story for their child.

Planning for the Holidays Wednesday, December 7, 1011 10:00am Room - 250 Being able to participate in holiday events with family is important to the family quality of life. This workshop will discuss the many challenges of holiday parties with extended family and why they present such a unique stress to children with autism. The presenter will cover practical strategies to help “get through� the holiday as well as long term skills to teach to their child to build meaning into holiday gatherings for the family.

Success in the Home and Community Wednesday, December 14, 2011 4:00pm Room - 250 This training will provide parents/caregivers with the ability to choose appropriate activities for the home, and the community. How long should you spend on an activity? What steps should be taken proactively to ensure success? How do you execute a successful playdate? Strategies will be provided for homework, daily living activities, sports teams and other community activities.
