---------------------------------------------------------------Reinforcement Strategies Wednesday, January 26, 2011 Participants will learn strategies to reduce anxiety and anger in their child.

This workshop will help parents identify possible triggers in their child and begin to create an action plan to help reduce anxiety and teach coping skills.

Safety Training Part II Wednesday, February 9, 2011 This training is a continuation of safety training for the home and community. Participants will learn how to teach their children such skills as differentiating safe and dangerous items in the home, stranger awareness, etc.

Toilet Training Wednesday, March 9, 2011 This training will provide families with skills and strategies for implementing successful toilet training programs within the home. Resources will be provided for parents to use at home.

Success in the Home & Community Part II Wednesday, March 23, 2011 This is a continuation of the Success in the Home and Community presentation. Participants will engage in an overview of the Part 1 presentation as well as prepare for challenges in the community and tackling homework.

Discrete Trial Teaching Wednesday, April 6, 2011 Participants in this training will learn basic concepts of discrete trial teaching. Skills and strategies will be developed and examples given.

HALF HOLLOW HILLS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Parent Training Workshop Schedule 2010-11 Summer Fun Wednesday, May 4, 2011 This workshop will provide families with strategies and resources for helping their children have an enjoyable and productive summer. Tips for structuring play dates, preparing for outdoor activities and community resources will be provided. Families are asked to bring suggestions for parent training topics to be covered in 2011-2012.

Increasing Independence Wednesday, May 18, 2011 In this workshop, participants will learn: • Why it is important to teach independence skills • What level of independence should we expect at different age levels • How to define and teach independence skills • Independence skills for every area (play, work, self care) • The biggest mistakes made in teaching independence skills This workshop is appropriate for: All parents of children with special needs, elementary, middle school, and high school level.

Peer Reliance Thursday, June 2, 2011 This workshop will provide the participants with an understanding of the value of peer interactions. The participants will learn to implement peer modeling programs as well as peer reliance. Concepts and strategies will be provided.

Task Analysis Thursday, June 9, 2011 This training will provide parents with valuable information on how to use task analysis strategies to teach complex skills to their child. Participants will learn how to break complex skills down into smaller teachable units. In addition, effectively prompting strategies will be provided to assist parent in teaching to independence. This workshop will be hands-on. Participants should come prepared with skills they would like to develop using task analysis.
