About Me

I am a recent graduate of Iowa State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the CIDA-Accredited Interior Design Program. After graduation, I moved home to Minnesota to explore my career options. Since moving home, I’ve developed a strong interest in wellness design within the hospitality, workplace, and residential design fields. I’m eager to continue learning and dive back into the field of interior design!

The Cove on 5th is an upscale boutique hotel dedicated to offering guests a tranquil atmosphere. Incorporating nature into a dynamic setting allows individuals to effortlessly connect with the peaceful surroundings. By integrating organic structures and materials, the space transports you away from the surrounding chaos and emerges you in the intimate ambience of the hotel. The hotel’s featured areas evoke a sense of immersion in nature, where every element facilitates guest interactions within a setting reminiscent of the outdoors. Our private rooms and suites are crafted to cater to everyone’s needs seamlessly and with sophistication. While incorporating natural elements in these spaces The Cove on 5th enhances the tranquility and serenity within the local Costa Rican lifestyle.

The Cove on 5th was my final senior project in which I had the opportunity to work with other disciplines in the College of Design. This whole project was very rewarding and fun and it was really great to be able to put all of our different skill sets to create something really incredible. The idea of the project was to study the city of San Jose, Costa Rica and create a luxury, boutique hotel for people to enjoy.

For my personal involvement on this project, I had the opportunity to create a restaurant and bar space on the main floor of the hotel. The space featured stained glass window design, shades of blue, and natural elements and materials that represented the Costa Rican lifestyle and culture. I had the opportunity to use the advanced color skills that I had learned in this studio, which led to what sparked my passion for bar and restaurant design.

The second part of my personal involvement for this project was to create a public restroom. My team and I chose to do a featured restroom because it is not something you see often. It is a gender neutral restroom that features yellows and neutral tones, a stained glass feature to mirror the restaurant design, and a pamper station to bring out the luxury of the hotel atmosphere.

The idea of this space was to create an environment that allows guests to make connections amongst one another in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Biederbecke hotel is an affordable, but luxurious space for younger generations to work, socialize, and relax. Combining a modern “sustainable wealth” design with an art deco aesthetic that emphasizes the history of Chicago’s navy pier, the design will be both timeless and trendy for the younger crowd. This project was a challenge in itself while trying to create a luxury space that is trendy but is also affordable for the working generation of today’s society.

My mind when I was trying to design a concept for this project was focused on the art of books and reading. “Bookies” are able to lose themselves in a book, forget reality and everything that may be going on in the real world. I created a book pub in the heart of New York City to escape the chaos of life in the city. During this course we learned various amounts of software that are not generally taught to us otherwise. Programs such as Photoshop, Lumion, Illustrator, and Procreate were used to deepen our understanding of design which I turned into a “bookpub”

The idea of this project was to take Iowa State’s Park Library and remodel it while keeping in mind the current students and staff. A large area of focus my team kept in mind was how the current users of the library felt about the space. A large issue we ran into while interviewing students was how we are all trying to relearn the norms of education after the aftermath of the pandemic. Individuals benefit greatly from being able to communicate face to face in an atmosphere that feels open and welcoming. We wanted to make the library a third place for students and staff by creating a space warm, calm, and connected to give users a place to study, relax, or even socialize.

LOEWE is a Spanish based company that is passionate about craftsmanship and “reinventing” leather by creating innovative ways of thinking to create truly modern objects of desire. This piece was done in Rome, Italy while I was studying abroad. Our class spent a lot of time studying European luxury brands and ways to reinvent them, as well as give them a new brand look. I really enjoyed being able to study Italian culture within department stores, and having the opportunity to learn about such beautiful, luxurious brands.
